He and his staff have shown flashes on the court in that they have engineered upsets over LSU with Angel Reese, knocked off Oklahoma last season, nearly beat Texas in Starkvilke last season, few others. Has made the NCAA Tourney several times since arriving, including beating California in the 2025 NCAA Tourney. Purcell hasn't yet shown to be one of the top coaches in the SEC thus far but appeared to be on an upward trajectory with the program and as a coach until this past off-season when lost Madina Okot and Deshields....loosing the team's speed/quickness/playmaking and talented size in one whop. Also, lost Jerkaila Jordan to depleted eligibility. Didn't appear to makeup for it in the portal. At this same time over half of the SEC teams got way better during the off-season whereas Miss. State has appeared stagnant even loosing ground in certain areas. Like NCMSTATE said..they have holes, and these holes along with inexperience have helped it be much tougher for the team to consistently execute what the coaching staff has been setting forth. Though this last game appears to be a possible turning point, Miss. State looked well coached, ncaa tourney looking SEC team....just gotta keep it up. continue to improve, and start finishing the deal in these games. Answer to your question....we shall see.

Saniyah King is playing the best out of the guards right now. Also, she handles the basketball and decision make the best against the press, and shows to be good, aggressive defensively. (Note) King, Francis, Prater...all playing aggressive on defense. Lampley showing flashes. Rest of the team playing much harder, inspired.
Team may get it's share of fouls but this particular team needs to stay on this aggressive style and ride it....fits this team.
