This would be a huge pick up too. I dont know what he's asking but this would probably be the smart route to take. I'd be happy with either one. But bang for your buck.. probably Barton.

Really good players can make a bad coach look good. Personally, I don't all of the problems on the OL are completely on Loadholt. I can think of times our offensive linemen completely whiffed on guys directly in front of them just literally ran by them. That's a talent issue to me.
Steen and at times Reese getting hurt messed up the line too. We had guys playing out of position and things like that and when you do that we had guys moving all around and that leads to communication issues.

I think we are at a point in the portal process where a lot of teams have signed LTs and have guaranteed money out to a lot of guys. Can they raise more? Absolutely. Do they want to roll the dice on having a chance to get him only to miss him and piss off the LT that they have signed? I do not believe so.
You can hate it all you want because I know it destroys your we cannot compete in this era argument, but this is damn real. We will go however high we need to go. I would have never thought we would get him. Credit to Loadholt and Lebby for getting it to this point. They also kept it quiet til he was on campus.

He came because we paid him. He wasn't coming to shake hands with Loadholt and talk about the good ol' days without the money. Money got him here. No visit without the money.. doesn't matter who the coach is. If you told any of us to hop on a plane to go do a meet and greet for a measly 100k then it's a no brainer done deal. We would hit every university we could in the time frame we had. It's free money. You'd be an idiot not to visit. So agree to disagree.
Because our fans get a narrative in their heads and spread it around far and wide trying to make it truth- much like our country's media does today. This guy is getting paid on every visit he takes. Every. Single. One. We got a visit because of Loadholt and their relationship. It's that simple. No Loadholt- no visit. He would just get paid on his visit to whatever the next team is. Boston College would pay him to visit- I bet he doesnt go there. Purdue will pay him to visit- I bet he doesnt go there either. Loadholt wouldnt be here if Lebby didnt think he was an asset. Lebby coaches offense. He has watched every offensive play we ran this year probably 20 times. He knows what the problems were on the OL. If he thought Loadholt was the problem- we would have a new OL coach.

I 100% agree. That's why I haven't called for him to be fired. I actually haven't called for anyone to be fired.. just not me. I agree on the talent issue. I expect us to be much improved on the O Line. If we aren't then I would definitely question Loadholts ability then. I'm not sure on the talent he had at Colorado.. I know they had a couple great skill players that year but not sure on O Line.

It's been said we have to drop a bag to get him to visit. Upwards of 100k. That tells me right there he wasn't visiting for the normal price of whatever it takes to get someone to visit. If BC or Purdue dropped that kind of money he would visit there too. If he didn't then he isn't very smart because that is a free 6 figure check just to go please the masses and get your name all over the internet. I never said Loadholt was a problem. I'm glad the kid came for a visit. Super stoked about it. We get a little positive publicity. But we had to up the price just for a visit. As you always say.... money money money.

You are either a troll or have no clue how recruiting works. You certainly don?t know the cost of recruiting these days.
One recruit, that to me isn?t D1 quality, got payed by four schools to commit publicly. 2 of the schools even knew he wasn?t going to sign with them. The schools just wanted to make a pop on the recruiting scene for a bit. Just FYI he?s not a State signee.
The game has changed and it is a big time change.

Umm......do you know how recruiting works now? If you don't pay they don't visit, especially these big time recruits like Seaton. Texas, LSU, and Miami are paying the same price as us.
-
Also going to go ahead and get out ahead of this:
With these big time recruits like Seaton, they are going to take all their visits. You can offer them 10 million dollars to not take them and they'll still take them because they know you're not going to move on if they still take their visits. This is the reality of the waters we're swimming in. This isn't recruiting a guy like Tyler Miller. I'm not trying to down Miller because he's a good player and we need him, but we paid him a little extra to not visit Ole Miss. Seaton knows the offers he has waiting in those other places and knows the offer he has from us.

If Seaton goes to Miami does that basically lock up Bell for us?

Bell would have to get an extra year of eligibility, IF HE DOESN'T GO PRO.

My defense of Loadholt has always been give him a full offseason and then judge our production. He has done exactly as expected and given us a solid OL on paper. Now the fun part comes when you see what he does with actual D1 talent.

We will get Mason Barton then. He is expected to be an NFL guy.

Loadholt definitely deserves another year. That mess was not on him. Kennedy and especially Friend were awful hires

I agree. I haven't been a fan of Loadholt at all but it's pretty obvious he's a huge factor in getting that visit. Also, I'll start yelling up and down the halls at work how our coaching staff better than anything Kiffin ever had if we start winning!! Our fanbase is terrible at painting a positive narrative, even if it's not facts.

This is where I'll say Mike Leach's book makes a great point about assuming D1 Coaches being smart just because they're hired to a higher level than guys at lower levels. It's an assumption that Lebby is smart enough to make an informed decision here. But at the end of the day it is an assumption.

Maybe I worded something wrong or it got taken out of context but yes I fully understand you have to pay recruits for visits. I understand that price varies depending on who that recruit is.

And hire who? Another coach that no one has thought twice about wanting? Cause that?s what we got. They might call me or you next
