being ranked or seeded no. 1 gets you alot of attention and style points. The team that is meant to win it will win it; i'll gladly take the 1 seed but being one of the top 8 is the main goal.

I could completely see a scenario where UCLA is number one all year and doesn't win it all.

I'll be shocked if UCLA wins it all. They just wont be as battle tested as the SEC & ACC teams. The best thing they'll have going for them is they have Omaha experience from last year with essentially the same lineup.

If it's a disadvantage to have a target on your back then so be it. I would rather have the best team that didn't care about what you think is a disadvantage or not.

I even want to win the SEC tourney, granted with some mid-week pitching but I still want to win it.
I agree. I want to be ranked #1 in each poll, I want to win the SEC title, I want to be the #1 overall seed, and I want to win the College World Series. I want to shove it down the throat of the other team every single week. Preferring that somebody else beat you is for losers.

The tourney at Globe Life Field in late February where UCLA plays 3 SEC teams (State, Tenn & another that I forget) will be interesting. I know it's early in the season, but I selfishly want UCLA to go 0-3.

They also have a SS that is considered to be the favorite to be the number one pick in the draft. That will also give them some helium.

If we beat UCLA in Dallas- that would be a big win for MSU. Could go a long way for our confidence and also be a big feather in our cap as far as hosting.

I actually had a big UPig baseball fan/season ticket holder complain to me about how easy the UPig schedule is. His comment was that State was the only "big team" coming to Fayetteville this year.

Believe it or not, Arkansas has not had a losing team since 2016. Van Horn has averaged 20 SEC wins in that span and 4 CWS appearances. But won no championship.

MSU is on coach Cohen, Canns, Henderson, Lemons, Parker, and BOC, 6 different dudes in the dugout. Had two 20 loss seasons. Fired a dude for sexting. Had Minime or bad luck destroy a staff. But won a championship.

For as impressive as DVH has been, I would not trade the championship. But DVH is basically the hexed version of Skip Bertman. Imagine SEC coaches meetings with Bianco purposely blinding him with a Giant 2022 Ring. BOC with a Giant Ring. LSU Johnson with two Giant Rings. At least Vitello and his Boyfriend moved to San Francisco and that Ring is out of view.

Personally, I don't see State getting there but if they get that #1 seed overall, it will not be a fluke as this team has to play a lot of ranked teams.
Having a veteran group where they guys have been there as have the coaches help. BOC will hopefully have these guys ready. Not too cocky where they go in and aren't prepared for a tougher game mentally but cocky enough to go on with an attitude. Harder than you'd think but having experience helps tremendously with this
