Portal Ranking as of 1/7.
247 has our portal class ranked 27th with 8 commits. One 4 star, seven 3 star. Ole Miss is ranked 7th with the same amount of commits. I feel as if we have majorly improved in the secondary. Hopefully the EDGE from Tulane commits soon. We are also in the running for the DT from Ark State who graded out around 88 PFF against the run.
I'm not posting this to be a debby downer. Just for info. As everyone knows we got to get some trench warfare guys. I don't worry about rankings too much as long as we fill positions of need, but rankings also give you an idea of the talent you're bringing in to replace the ones going out.

Yeah. Portal rankings are probably even less accurate than high school rankings and that's saying something.
I'm not sure where we will be ranked but as long as we fill needs I'm happy.
I like that we're getting some guys with multiple years of eligibility left as well as immediate impact upperclassman because we need to build quality depth. Under Lebby I don't think we will go as portal heavy as Ole Miss does. I think we'll ultimately be 60-65% homegrown players and the rest from the portal.

We've improved the back end. Now it needs to be trench focused

If we get some good trench guys on both sides (just average) with the secondary guys we have now and our offense averages what it did this year.. year 3 under Lebby will be pretty damn good.
Ifs and buts I know but I like the players we have got so far. Taylor will probably be CB2 behind Kelly. Finished 6th in the Big12 in coverage grade. Singleton comes in with 3 years left. His best game was against Miami. Lots of potential with him. Williams was one if the best run defenders in CFB this year. Secondary seems to have majorly improved on paper. It's going to come down to how much KT develops his pass game if we can get guys to protect him.

With the amount of money TT and LSU are throwing around, we won't be in the top 5-10, but a showing in the 15-20 area is definitely within reach.

I honestly never expect us to be a top 10 spender. I could be wrong. We just have to make sure we recruit the right guys for the right position.

Every time we add a new portal player we go down in the rankings 2-4 spots. So there's that.

The entire SEC has rev share now. We wont ever be a Top 15 spender nationally, and likely not a Top 12 spender in our own conference. But rev share does allow us to get a leg up on other P4 programs and top G5 programs
