Realistic Idea for State to make the College Football Playoff....
It's no secret we don't have the NIL money to compete year in and year out....
So why don't we basically go ahead and make it clear that we are tanking and paying zero dollars for the next, say, 3 years. Nothing but guys willing to play for a scholly or as a walk on. And we save 3-4 years worth of stock piled NIL money, and make it clear that in 2028 we are coming for every top tier transfer in the portal and bringing a BAG with us!
Have all the big targets saying "I don't know where I'll be next year, but in 2028 I want MSU throwing a bag at me and being a part of their title contender team"
Bc we can turn a roster over in 1 offseason easily, especially with a ton of cash.
Why not play for one or 2 magical seasons every decade? Better than what we have now. Many will laugh, but why am I wrong? Work smarter since we can't pay the the big bucks to keep up on a yearly basis.

I do think we need an outside the box approach. I?d like to see us become known as an FCS allstar team. Let it be known that we take will take the best players from all the small schools and go to work. Also, buy as much instate talent as possible.

Because the Top players don?t want to play in Starkville, Ms. for no name coaches no matter how much money you put in front of them. They want to play for the name on the front of the uniform if the money is even a little less than State is offering. Hire THE GUY first and let his resume bring the players in. We will have to suffer 1 more year with Lebby. But then State needs to offer the Best Available Successful Coach out there $12 million to come make State a winning football program.

To be fair, we have offered more money to several players who left our school to go to a program that was winning. It doesn't happen all the time, but it sure enough has happened more than a few times.
You can offer kids a bunch of money, but a lot of them (especially the ones you want on your team) really just want to win, and also make a lot of money.
A kid would rather take 750K at a school that is close to making the playoffs as opposed to taking 900K from us. You can call bullshit all you want, but it sure enough has happened.

If you want to think outside the box, then the mindset of the whole AD will have to change.
Right now the plan is to raise the over all age of the team. Aka... experience. Then add a few pieces of younger talent.
But... we should seriously consider raiding the European League and the CFL for linemen.

Copy the EMCC method. Become Last Chance U for the P4. Run on the idea that if you come show out for us, you're guaranteed to get a bag from Ohio St. or Alabama. If we are going to be stepping stone school then embrace it and make it an advantage

This combined with some lean years and target years I think can be a winning combo for us. There are some really good players in other levels and small schools - see NFL rosters, Chamblis, etc. Mayb the best QB performance I've seen in college was at FCS level. There is overlooked talent out there. Josh Hubbard is too small to play college ball. Yeah right.

Buy the team tickets seems like the most likely way to get there.

Honestly going to Europe or Canada for players isn't a bad idea. We've already had success with Reese from Canada and Traore from England. Both were pretty good. Justin Senior came from Canada too and he started and I think he played in the NFL/CFL.
If we got a guy from the CFL a lot of times they're going up against former NFL guys or college guys like Chad Kelly. I have no idea what players are like from Europe but they're probably pretty raw.

The problem is our fans will run those players down and complain about it. If we brought in a guy from D2 Ferris State to be our back up QB today our fans would be pissed and want to fire the staff.
The only outside the box avenue they have ever gotten behind is JUCO football and that's because probably half of our fans went to one.
