I agree, some on here will never be happy!

Selmon may be doing a great job with certain behind the scenes stuff. I am not informed enough to comment on that, but if what people are saying who have inside knowledge is true, then that is great. What I do know for a fact is that he failed on getting the best coach that was available during his coaching search. Instead of hiring Cignetti when he had the chance, he hired a coach from his former school with no head coaching experience. I am not even in the fire Lebby crowd yet, but this was a major epic fail on Selmons part. His number 1 job is to hire the best coach available that would want our job and he did not do that. As I have mentioned, I am not from Mississippi and do not have connections that most do, but I know for a fact Cignetti would?ve taken our job in 2023 if offered. Now, I think Mark Cubans money is keeping him at IU long term and he may have left us after this year for a blue blood job, but we would not be in this bad of a position if Selmon hired him when he should?ve done so.

Dude had we hired Cignetti every state fan on this forum would have been pissed. His name was never even mentioned in our coaching search and I don't remember his name floating around for any jobs. Indiana found a gem.
Only way we continue to get out of this hole is to continue throwing more and more resources at it and get back to being competitive and showing we are willing to get serious about NIL if that doesn't happen it will not matter who's on the sidelines.

Leave it to State fans to let last night ruin their day today.
Get over it, Ole Miss is going to win the natty, nothing we could have done to change that. Good for them, we need to keep improving and hope we can match their energy going forward. I think some of you enjoy being miserable to be honest.

Cig was hired 3 years ago. Lebby was hired 2 years ago.

Not sure either has the leadership ability to do anything about it though.

People really struggle to understand this.

Oh it's very short lived. It was over about 2 minutes after the game. I'm a sports fan. Fan is short for fanatic just FYI. We tend to get very high and low. Thank goodness I have pretty much accepted the fact that we will never be competitive in this era again. I will watch our games but mostly wait for baseball season where the school I attended has a chance at winning the whole thing.

Bro, this thread was sooooooo last night. Right after the game. If you weren't pissed about them winning right when the game ended then you aren't a State fan at all. Today I just now checked the board for the first time at 1:30 pm. Spent all morning enjoying my family. I was miserable for 30 seconds last night.

One thing I have learned from their success. They started to get successful once they stopped giving a shit about us. Kiffin didn't care about the egg bowl. He didn't give a shit about instate recruiting and seeing who gets more of the ten most wanted in-state recruits. He didn't care, he cared about building a team to make the playoffs.
What is hilarious is that the team that he actually built for the playoffs was last year's team. The longer we give a shit about what they are doing, the more and more likely we are going to become Oregon State to their Oregon.
If we wasted one damn minute worrying about them when we need to rebuild our roster, that would piss me off. We have a playoff caliber QB. Surround him with talent and figure it the hell out.

I've told people for two years how bad it was when Selmon got here. He legit almost quit a few times the first few weeks because we were so antiquated in the athletic dept. We had people making 6 figure salaries that weren't doing the job they were paid, very well btw, to do. Some of the Poor Ole's got mad that he was taking access away from their friends, but they got over it. That's how you operate an athletic dept. That's how Byrne, and to a lesser extent, Stricklin ran the athletic dept so well when they were here. They paid people well because they knew they were great at what they did. Cohen played favorites and just gave titles and raises to people who had no clue what they were doing.

Selmon was shocked how many were getting paid doing nothing. We r much better now days but we still have a ways to go. I'm hoping what i was told that a hige donation will be coming to the athletic department. Not sure when or even this still is going to happen.

It's happening and we're working on another big one as well.

Hope it happens soon. Giving 100 million(plus) a few times would work.

I don't know that we'll ever get that type of check, but we're working on a couple of really big ones that would dwarf anything we've ever received.

To me the Selmon AD has only one metric to measure Selmon by in football is we have won 1 (repeat) 1 sec football game in two seasons. That is pitiful!
Y?all can message all the excuses you want. The athletic dept. was recovering from Cohen. Our coach died. We don?t have nil. We don?t have enough billionaires. We don?t have all out fan support. Fan base should give more. NEVER say anything negative about our athletic dept. I could go on and on.
The bottom line is wins and losses and we have been losing way too much. And the buck stops at Selmon?s desk. Period! End of discussion.
Until our administration opts for hiring real football coaches and getting SEC caliber players then Selmon is a failure.
Edited to say that is why these administrators are paid to figure this out.

Wins and losses are directly tied to funding and an athletic directors job is to raise funds. And to get real coaches and SEC caliber players you have to have money.

This is true! But that is the reason athletic directors are paid to figure this out. And instill winning! Have we won anything in football under Selmon?
