Jones, Smith, Lockhart, Whitson...etc
Getting those back on defense is a massive boost to continue to build around. Stonka would be an awesome keep too.
-
Why Stonka? He couldn?t see the field this year. Maybe he ends up being good but I was shocked he couldn?t crack the 2 deep this year
-
Womack is gong to start at safety as well. We have a ton of young talent on both sides of the ball. 2027 could be really good.

He was learning a new position. If he stays with it I think he could start eventually. We'll see what he does in the portal.

He’s listening to the wrong people, thinking he’s the next AJ Brown. He ain’t. Maybe someone can get thru.

His portal offers to play offense will teach him that he’s not AJ Brown. He’s a g5 receiver and a possible NFL safety.

One thing I will say is Stonkas mom has been a big public supporter of Lebby through the end of the year.

the checks were still flowing

Tillman, Lockhart, Gullette, Smith is a hell of a LB group.
-
Our biggest need long term is offensive line. Cody Kennedy completely whiffed the one season he was here. We need guys that can play now and in the future at that position group. And probably need to overspend some to fix it.

And they got Fatt Forrest back yesterday as well. That's a deep group. I'm curious to see which one ends up moving to the SAM position in Arnett's defense.

My only concern is at LB is they seem a step slow. But, that could just be that our DL allow so many blocks into the second level that our LB's were always having to fight off extra people.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Don't forget you get Kai McClendon back from injury, too. That's like getting a solid portal pickup.

I Would see if Chris Jones from Mississippi Southern is interested. Very good LB and we need a strong Two Deep on defense (6 LBs). With Lebby’s offense the Defense is on the field a lot even if the offense is playing well.

We do seem that way. But I think the system that is Arnetts will fix that issue

It doesn’t matter what system changes are made we must get better up front fast. All the linebackers in the world are worthless when they are getting blocked 7 yards past the los. We must acquire a couple of real difference makers in the front 3 of this defense.

We need the new DL coach to bring in some people. Turner hasn't done squat.

Well naturally, but we were talking just the LB corp. And he is right, we are slower. We had nobody, imo, that could spy a QB. It shows up in the run game. But assignments will change with Arnett. Jones was not ready for the NFL, for example. Coverage, GREAT. Run defense... he was bad. Anything on the outside was at risk for us.
But yeah, a DL makes everybody look better.
