Such a huge difference for the #6 seed vs #7 seed this year.
OM essentially gets a bye with Tulane while we see what just happened to A&M having to play Miami. Still don't understand how OM got a higher seed than TA&M given they had the same conference record and overall record while A&M had a road win at Notre Dame.

Sec and big 10 should just leave the ncaa. Have a plus 1 at the end for the real champs
-
This could have been one of the best days in college football history but instead the committee gives us a competitive game and two complete mismatches.
Notre Dame at OM and TX or Vandy at Oregon would have made for a great day of football.
-
I think the playoff should be limited to the top 8 teams. No G5 teams. Champions of the P4 and then four at large teams.

The tv providers should sue the ncaa for this. They cost them money

In a 12 team playoff I can live with letting 1 Group of 6 team in but having 2 of them this year is a joke and ruins the first round of the playoffs. Beyond ridiculous to have TWO of the first four playoff games with spreads higher than 17 points.

ACC deserves some of the blame for their stupid tiebreaker rules. Should have been Miami vs UVA in the ACC championship game. That would have put in Notre Dame over JMU
-
I?m all for letting 1 G5 team in but 2 is too many. If the ACC did their tie breaker properly then Ole Miss would actually be playing Notre Dame instead of Tulane
-
om is playing a High School team....
-
It needs to be the Top 12 teams and then the 4 highest rated G5 teams/conf champs play against #9-12 as a play in game. Round two would then be games between 6-12. Then you go into quarter finals.

Why does everyone complicate it? 16 teams. 5 auto bids, 11 at large. Done.

This makes the most sense. I hope that?s what happens in the future. Play all first round games at highest seed with no byes and that would basically resolve the problem.

Yeah, that would have let in Notre Dame, BYU, Texas, and Vanderbilt, and at least this year taken care of pretty much every controversy.
Ole Miss would be hosting Notre Dame right now.

Unfortunately, it looks like the main 16-team plan they're considering is that 13-16 have play-ins, and the 1 and 2 seeds get a double-bye.
So it would look like this:
Week 1:
16 James Madison @ 13 Texas
15 Tulane @ 14 Vanderbilt
Week 2:
9 Alabama @ 8 Oklahoma
10 Miami @ 7 Texas A&M
11 Notre Dame @ 6 Ole Miss
12 BYU @ 5 Oregon
13/16 @ 4 Texas Tech
14/15 @ 3 Georgia
Week 3:
9/8 vs. 1 Indiana
7/10 vs. 2 Ohio State
6/11 vs. 3/13/16
5/12 vs. 4/14/15
Needlessly complicated when a regular 1-16 bracket with no byes would be fine.

Well the fake plantation owners better enjoy their cake walk. Because their next game will be against a real playoff team not some G5 team that they already had beaten and did NOT belong in the playoffs.

This is like watching an early September cupcake weekend.
Bullshit.

I guess I haven't been paying attention because I just realized the next round is 12/31 & 1/1. So back to back blowouts will be followed by an almost two week wait for more games.

Remember when they said a playoff would be so much more competitive than the bowl games? LOL.
