From a Defensive Coordinator to an edge rushers coach

And you are trying to make this sound like MSU missed out?
Our D was sh|t, he was canned.
    Get over it.

You can struggle at one job and excel at a lesser job. Happens all the time in every walk of life.

If he were a great DC, he would be hired somewhere good as a DC.

The heck are you talking about? He was hired as edge rushers coach.

This would be like saying Will Muschamp is obviously a really good head coach because as soon as SC fired him, UGA hired him as ST coach.

I'll tell you this, going 7-9 in the MAC the last two years is crazy good for Akron. They had an OT loss and a 3 point loss as well.

Akron is probably a top 5 toughest job in the country, so he isn't doing bad.

I was replying to your post #12, where you replied to Quaoarsking, and you two were discussing Joe Moorhead.

Matt Brock, the guy we just hired to be co-defensive coordinator, had a better defense at UConn this season than Hutz had at MSU.

    UConn #74 MSU #97

    Auburn did not upgrade

UConn didnt play our schedule. One of the best DC's in the country hired him immediately. That says it all

We have to buy players. That will be tell the tale

Why are you advocating so hard for a fired guy? Dude just leave it. No one believes you that we made a mistake in firing Hutz who was without a doubt the worst (might be Sermon) DC we have ever had.

Where did I say we made a mistake? I havent.

I'm pointing out NIL/Portal decides success in this age of football. If we dont get better players- who our DC is doesnt matter. We now have a DC with documented success in the SEC. Make sure you look at the roster before we see if our D is still a problem in 2026

If we trot out Cinnamon Toast at CB next year? Our CB play will still be shitty there

I agree that we need talent; never disagreed with you there even though your continuous diatribe of how poor our university is and how much Starkville sucks is getting tiresome. However, even with talent, Hutz would no doubtedly still have sucked ass

The advertisements on this board sucks. They take up so much room, you have to close them to type.

I will never buy anything from advertisements that are annoying.

Weird hill to die on. Coaches who fail in higher roles get employed in lower roles with other teams all the time. Especially in coaching.

We need players, but Hutz getting a job as a DE coach at Auburn is irrelevant to that conversation. Your anrgument only makes sense if he would have gotten hired as DC at a good school somewhere.

Or was it just a lack of talent under Sirmon?

Want to know what?s funny? Sirmon got hired by Louisville to be their DC after getting fired from us and we all agree he was a bad DC. Hutz gets canned as our DC and gets hired for a lesser position. Blows C34?s argument out of the water. Hutz must have been his inside info buddy, why he?s so butthurt about him

Sirmon was 93rd in the country in scoring D for us in 2016, Grantham was 23rd the following season for us.

Louisville was 31st in 2016 under Grantham, under Sirmon in 2017 they were 70th and they fired him. And they thought they got the better deal in that trade until his defense hit the field at Louisville

    Yep. Agree.
And I will say we had more talent in 2017 than 2018. But grantham was way better than sirmon during that time frame.
Doesn't mean sirmon (and Hutz) can't learn and adjust and do well later though.

Yes, they all think so highly of him that exactly nobody else ever had offered him the position that we offered him. Great point
