Overall one of the more promising performances of the season for a few reasons.
First, this is the first game that was well in hand but Coach Purcell continued to work with his primary group. He also had them running more set plays further into the fourth quarter. Normally when the deeper sections of the bench are in the structure breaks down with them starting to jack up shots. He corrected N Gray when she shot the quick three and the next few times she ran the sets.
We shifted defenses several times tonight and Charlotte looked off balance much of the game.
S King is starting to look more comfortable for longer periods of time. It is still key that she develop into our primary ball handler and maintains the pace and tone for the team.
M Francis has moved more to the top of the defense and is causing big issues with her athleticism and length.
Free throws were embarrassing tonight. We left at least seven points on the court by only making 56% after shooting 73% for the season. Our bench was also a little weak on production other than J Lampley. I also remain concerned about our lack of size in the post. Other than K Richardson we let too many players get too good of position.
However, again overall tonight great win.

Some really good points ...but I still like Crisp at point ....she has settled in and does not turn the ball over, shoots a high percentage from the field, is by far the best FT shooter and is a much better defender ...I like King but I haven't seen anything from her that will allow her to overtake Crisp. Maybe it's the old coach in me that s partial to Crisp because she does the things that I would want in a point guard....

Crisp has surprised me at PG as well, she calms the team down and makes open shots. She is actually not a true PG but I cant tell, King is the true PG but injuries set her back a little. You can still see she has all the PG skills though. If we can put it all together this can be a special group.
I saw someone mention our lack of size earlier and while we may not have several players at 6'4 or better we have alot of 6'1" to 6'3" girls that are long and athletic so it offsets. Nwaedozi and Francis are 6'2 and 6'3 but they play really good defense, are long and rebound at the starting 4 and 5... Francis leads the SEC in blocks and is 3rd in the nation.

I agree with you both regarding T Crisp. She has gotten better each game and is doing a very good job. It is actually to the point it may be difficult for S King to overtake her. However I would rather have T Crisp being able to concentrate on scoring, especially from the perimeter.

Man i loved our "run and Jump" defense. It brought memories of my coaching days. For those that don't know its our full court trapping defence which can involve 3 plYers trapping and rotating to passing lanes. Back in the 70's Dean Smith started this and Tenn did it as well.

Yeah I noticed the intensity in their eyes on defense ....it is the best he has had them this year ...he is settling on his rotation and looks like since the Texas Tech game he is basing his substitutions based on defensive effort ...

They have the quickness and athleticism to trap in full court, it is fun to play for players, btw Ric Pitino was also a master with this defense especially at Ky. Seems Purcell has stepped up on his sideline coaching, experience helps. Fun team to watch so far.
