    So Stricklin cost UF Kiffin

And it may ultimately cost loafers his job. But he may be onto something with his GM to AD model. (More of an NFL model). This could lessen the importance of the head coach and give athletic departments at least a little leverage over Jimmy Sexton. Be interesting to follow the next 5 years.

I saw a report that Alford at FSU was reaching out to Kiffin behind the scenes but bowed out because FSU "couldn't afford Lane".

I think that is a really valid strategy.

GM reporting to AD, Coach is there to coach. More of a plug and play with the coach. The

Interesting approach. They hired a former NFL GM for the job as well.

Kiffin wanted to be in control of all the roster, nil decisions and bring in his guy from Ole Miss. Scott said he was going to be hiring the GM which he ultimately brought in an ex-NFL GM. Kiffin didn?t like this at all. Killed the deal in the first meeting. LSU told Kiffin he would have total control.

I can?t see Stricklin and Kiffin getting along. I think he is a better fit at LSU. I also think UF made a big mistake hiring Sumrall and not Fisch

In general, yes. Very few head coaches are equipped to handle all the different aspects required to run a multi-million dollar business. But in this particular case, I think he should have given Kiffin complete autonomy. For one, Kiffin has proven he knows what hes doing as far as roster construction in this NIL era. And two, Stricklins ass is gone if Sumrall doesnt pan out.

I think it's a good model for MSU. Essentially Leach had the same model.

No, Leach had the Kiffin model. What we are talking about is the AD making the GM hire.

Leach won 7 and 8 games in his 2nd and 3rd year. His model was starting to work before his passing

Leach did have a similar model. He just had people who did not know what they were doing in charge of analysis and offering scholarships.

Y'all have no idea how much that time ultimately ended up hurting our program. Between that time and the Arnett cluster 17 we were bottomed out.

People don't even understand who really makes decisions, even after seeing that Fla booster video. Just like the Leb only hires his buddies. Does anyone ever think about how small the coaching world is? So small that if you don't know someone you know someone that they worked with.

Exactly. Leach was a great coach but the everything else around him suffered. Arnett was just the rancid cherry on top of the shit sundae.

We are just now starting to climb out of this hole. And some people want to nuke it and start over.

I blame Cohen for that situation much more than Leach. When your leader is telling you that NIL is a fad and giving it to the baseball team that's an issue.

Leach was eccentric. But that didn't mean he was against NIL and the portal- Leach actually recruited the portal pretty well considering the resources at hand.
