Ole Miss 247 says Durkin to MS ST from 2 different sources

    From Chase:

I think this may be part of something bigger coming regarding Durkin.

State thinks it?s getting DJ. I?m not exactly staying on top of it but heard it from two places.

It would be a great thing if this comes to pass.

Would be a serious move that proves we aren't messing around.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Sounds more to me like OM media trying to explain away that we kicked their butt for the best safety in America who wouldn't give them the time of day.

All it means right now is that We paid more for Womack. Or that Womack knows Durkin is out. Durkin being out does not mean he is headed to MSU. However, I do think it's pointing in Durkin to MSU.

If it happens and Lebby struggles he's our next coach.

Technically, 5-15 is a step up from 1-15.

There are some posters on AU's On3 that think things are smoothing out with Durkin and he stays.

However, they do admit he has talked to us about the job. So we'll see.

Yet no sources from State are saying we've contacted him.

Glad to see we let pulling a 5* become "well State may be getting Durkin" which will eventually become "State fumbled Durkin".

We had been talking and working the safety for over a month. Our current defensive staff was working that. He had been visiting us so it wasnt out of the blue.

Durkin would be a great pull if we could do it

Why would Kiffin not want Durkin? If Tulane hires their alum, Mr Baker away from LSU it could be a possibility, right? Maybe DJ holds out for Tulane to decide.

DJ is going to definitely hold out for Tulane and I think we could see him MAYBE try for that Memphis job as well.

DJ also soured greatly on Lane during his tenure at OM. Durkin and Lebby were running that program from the offseason of 2020 and almost all the way through 2021.

If we manage to pull Nickerson or White they will be in freak out mode.

I was made aware yesterday that some OM fans are saying that Lebby is who kept things together in 2020 and 2021.

Which is why I said that Lebby and Durkin were running the program from the offseason of 2020 all through 21. It was not some big secret. Honestly, none of this stuff was. It was an open secret and anyone in Oxford would tell you if you just asked.

From what I was told at the time, Lane basically peaced out after the 2020 season and they didn't really see him other than a recruiting weekend here or there the entire offseason. So Lebby and Durkin were running the program. This is why it was a foregone conclusion when Lane was going to Auburn that Lebby would take over. He'd already done it once.
