I've never heard velvet ditch anywhere in my life other than this message board. Not a single ole Miss fan has ever mentioned those words.

I mean it's no different than us calling Starkville "StarkVegas". They have just marketed it better than we've marketed the StarkVegas stuff. They also don't care if people make fun of them for calling Oxford "The Velvet Ditch". They see it as endearment.

There is a restaurant named Velvet Ditch in Oxford. It is used.

I’ve heard mostly from younger om students or fans.....Vevet ditch “Easy to slide into but hell to crawl out...”

A phrase that they can use but no one else can.
