I can agree that Shapen should have started. For sure.

And I'm not a fan that wants just a running qb. I dont want Sellers at SC, any of Auburns QB the past few years, Van Buren, etc. Thats not the kind of qb I want. I want one that can throw and run. I have emphasized alot on KT running abilities and that's only because of our horrendous O Line. And the Egg Bowl showed why it's so important. It's just the ability to turn a negative into a positive. I hope he turns out to be our leading passer in school history and escape the pressure when he needs to. I will never want to just have a guy that can run at the qb position. That's the worse "positive" thing that can happen.. especially in our conference.

    Vs sec only...
    Shapen 134 passer rating
    KT 124 passer rating

Both were horrible passing in the sec, but one could actually be productive with his legs. Not sure where Shapen being a good passer is coming from

I have read this board pretty heavy and haven't seen anyone even refer to a heisman like performance.

What everyone is happy about as fans of Mississippi State.. is a freshman in his first start got the opportunity against their rival who happened to be the #7 team in the country and led an opening drive of 97 yards. In the end, he accounted for over 380 yards of total offense. That's with completing under 50% of his passes.

I can be proud of a performance like that by any of our players. I dont care their name, position, graduation year... whatever. I dont care about none of that. I am proud I watched our freshman qb perform better than most thought be would. Wasn't a "Heisman performance" but considering all the circumstances... it was a damn good performance. Hail State.

It's probably pointless man. Some people choose not to see it.

He built his passer rating in blowouts vs Georgia and Mizzou plus a 1 yd tipped TD pass vs Texas and a trick play vs the mighty Alcorn Braves. Gtfo with the stat shit

They kinda are. We averaged 30.5 PPG this year. Offense wasnt the problem. Our lack of talent on D was our problem. Until we buy a defense- QB play doesnt really matter. KT will be a good QB next year. We better spend alot of money on the trenches

KT helped with that. He was tied with booth for rushing td lead. Booth missing the 1st half didn't help us scoring wise Friday

Yeah, Shapen was not bad. Considering the OL, he was actually really good. People trying to trash him are always the same ones. They think the back up is always the second coming. They don't really care about the actual issues but somebody has to pay the price for their misery. Never mind what Shapen did and how the defense did not help. But changing out a QB cures all!

I have high hope for KT, but he took just as many sacks on average as Shapen. He passed for 48% vs ole miss.

KT's 351 total yards Friday is more than Shapen put up in his career (41 games). It was KT's first career start.

It was LEBBY who thought it was the right move. Probably because he didn't think Shapen was 100%.

The ones arguing with me saying Shapen is better also defend Lebby at every turn. Quite the pretzel they're twisting themselves into

Think Lebby made it pretty clear Shapen would play if 100%. Therefore it doesn't really matter who is the better QB. Lebby felt KT was the better choice based on the circumstances. Now why he didn't get the first snap, I wouldn't be surprised if Shapen reacted badly to that prospect and that's why it didn't happen.

I've been out of the loop most of the day aside from a text from a friend about Lane and then a quick scroll of Reddit to read about that. I was happy to come to my favorite State board to find a thread entitled "2026 Football Coaching Staff Tracker." With over 100 posts, I was excited to read about what were surely some major developments. Instead, it's nearly six pages of the same back and forth from the other threads about Lebby, Dan, etc., with no end in sight. Lol. Should've known better.

I think we probably would’ve hit on a big pass or two with Blake and maybe scored 1 extra TD. It would’ve changed exactly nothing. Giving KT the reigns to learn and build was the right move. I do think we probably get 1 extra score and a pick 6/strip sack with Blake
