That sure seems the logical outcome.

Also- my opinion on Kentucky and Stoops is wrong. They are firing him apparently.
Pete Thamel reports that according to his contract- they have to pay him $37MM in the next 60 days....****ing wow

The latest apparently is they negotiated an installment plan. So now it makes more sense.

This ^. Golding was not an option until after that meeting last night. They had literally no one left last minute to salvage this playoff appearance. He got the job because the alternative was going to torpedo their playoff appearance. Sumrall was gone and Golesh was gone; this fell into Golding?s lap and OM is doing their normal spin.

Not this time. There's no F'n way they were gonna hire Golding to replace their Savior. Then, he drug his nuts all over their program and made them wait until all the other programs scooped up the best candidates. Lane has nuked that program on his way out the door.

It was pretty obvious that Kiffin was leaving after their game with Florida. Carter could have pushed him for an answer but he knew if they lost the Egg Bowl they probably are out of the CFP. So the truth is that Carter wasn't confident in having Golding (or Judge) coach them in the Egg Bowl. And now he has to sell that Golding is the answer.

Yep. They chose the short term gain which is probably a road game and likely won't even be in Oxford. And then on top of that we'll get to see how this works out long term. I'm guessing that this is going to end up being at least a two year rebuild.

I'm not surprised that they were going to do whatever they needed to do to win the Egg Bowl.

It is pretty funny though that they have the former head coach of the New York Giants on their staff and he was not promoted to interim HC. They named their DC who has been very average this season.

Agree. Panic hire due to being afraid of losing players and needing perceived continuity.

Yep.

Sounds familiar.
