So apparently a major Florida booster decided to let his 2 nephews sit in on a zoom call between some important people within Florida's organization and they secretly recorded the conversation and posted it on Twitter. This guy goes on to talk about how "Gary".. who is Gary Condron and Florida's biggest booster.. ruined the hiring of Kiffin because of his ego and only wanting to hire Sumrall. He says Sumrall is 10000% hired. Done deal.

Once it all gets leaked the guy goes into freak out mode. His apologies on the message boards make it seem like Gary has a hit out on the poor guy now. The videos of the conversations are actually pretty crazy.. especially if true. And shows Florida is a dumpster fire right now. And the guy says Auburn is even worse which is why Sumrall turned them down.

He's pretty dang good. Took over a 15-19 Troy team (the 3 years prior to him coming) and went 23-4 in his 2 years there. Several of Tulane's player transferred when Fritz left too, including their 1000 yard RB who went to Oregon. So he also had to hit the portal hard to bring in key players for Tulane. That is not Fritz's players.

This is brought up in that conversation. Someone stepped in and said Sumrall is Napier 101 but they feel like he is their only choice since Kiffin said no and they don't want Auburn to get Sumrall.

I knew it was but didn't realize how deep it was until listening to those conversations. Gary Condron has his thumb over everybody and they can't do anything about it unless they want to lose 15 mill+ a year.

It's crazy that President and AD's are basically just puppets and fall guys. Money talks. But when you have guys like this that will only have it their way, you get a shitty situation. I can only hope our big money men are willing to listen, learn, and do what's best for the team. Not what "they want."

Now you know how things work. It’s varies a little from place to place as to how hands on and how much meddling goes on but it’s not greatly different anywhere in our league. But it’s not hard to figure out what institutions have the most meddlesome booster, cough, Auburn, cough, Florida, cough A$M.

Very true. Also makes you wonder how successful a coach can actually be with certain individuals always meddling with things. I dont know if it reaches down to the field levels but I'm sure they have some say in things.
