And I agree with you but I take it a step further. The tush push offense - I could get banned in a year - maybe less. Against defenses these days - give me 11 400+ lb sumo wrestlers pushing in unison. You are not stopping me from getting 10 yards across 4 plays. You don't have the size to stop it. Hell we probably just push down the field for a TD every play. It'd be a glorious season and then immediately banned because the product would be awful to watch, but there's no ****ing stopping us.
Every time you bring this up I laugh the whole time reading it. It would be such bad TV but dang from a football perspective you cannot argue it.

Wouldn't it though... in years and decades in the past I longed for a good passing game... Mullen kinda brought us into that but he was well balanced.... now I find myself wishing exactly what the op just said
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

It's not my preference. I actually like what we do on offense with this coach. I just think doing something completely opposite of what everyone else is doing could be effective

Even when Mullen was here, we kept saying rtgdfb on this board. I appreciate Lebbys offense but I think power football is still worth a try

This AND a better 4th down IQ. That may not happen until we get an OC. Lebby needs to learn to think like a HC. Right now, sure he wants tonwin. But ONLY win HIS way. I hope he will grow, but I'm not sure he will. He always defends every decision. He's not learning. Maybe it's just coach speak and he really doesn't believe everything that he spouts off defending some really low coaching IQ decisoons.

Yeah - it looks like variants on the old Wing-T and Single Wing formations

I don?t think Odom has won a big 10 game this year @ Purdue. They have an easier schedule too. Would have been the same results with that hire as with Lebby if not worse. He is a good DC and coach at place like UNLV but I don?t see him being a good P4 coach

This could be an argument for Marion, who was odom's OC last year at unlv

Gotcha. I didn?t know who Marion was but just looked him up. Seems like he could be a good coach and seems like a good OC

Not far from it for sure. If they had a little dirty slot like we see some again now it’s not too far from an RPO out of the notre dame box.

I have no idea if this would work in the sec, but I think we have to try to figure out how to stay ahead of the curve. Trying to do what other teams with better funding do isn't really a path to success. So whether it's power football or something else, we have to try and find a way to neutralize our disadvantages.
Let's just hope Lebby doesn't fail, and this ain't an issue.
I think the inability to allocate the necessary players will be the biggest reason Lebby won't make it. I havent seen anything to believe we can do this as a program. Making matters worse is 4 SEC teams with new coaches are going to clean out the portal leaving us with dry crumbs.

I think if we tried it the odds are it would work about as well as anything else we tried.
The whole premise is this would work because we are "bigger" than our opponents but in the SEC the issue is the players are both big and fast. The only logical way to counter it is to be big and fast ourselves.

BYU and Tech play in the Big12. Maybe State should try that.

BINGO.

We literally brought an OC to be our HC from the big 12

Well let's just take a random schedule, say TCU's schedule. We'll keep our non con the same and sub UNC for ASU since ASU is in the Big 12. They also have 9 conference games so I'm taking out Northern Illinois
@USM-W
UNC-W
Alcorn-W
@Arizona St-I think we lose this in Tempe. So L
Colorado-W
@Kansas St-L
Baylor-W
@West Virginia-W
Iowa St-W
@BYU-L
@Houston-L
So yes, I believe we'd probably be a 7-8 win team in that league. And I'm giving us a couple of L's where I think we'd get a win.

The discussion was what Utah and byu are doing. I don't think they're much more talented than us, but Utah beat asu 42-10. BYU doesn't have a common opponent

That's perfectly reasonable. It's just not nearly as much of a line of scrimmage league as the SEC.
