What is the deal with Kenny Dillingham and LSU?
I am seeing several LSU podcasters saying he has entered the chat.

There is some thought that he could deliver Leavitt with him and that would make him an option.

It would definitely be epic, no doubt... but man, I'd take their last 3-4 years in a heartbeat. I mean, look at our continued meltdown after DM left. And the comparison is a no-brainer.
ETA... Oops sorry, we now have to re-live our "best" ever season, ad nauseam. I'll sum it up for the 2-3 posters... Amazing, mediocre, shitty - all in one year.

One booster mentioned to me that Bobby P is the safe backup plan. Beating TX this weekend would make that interesting.

Just some info to pass along this morning:
Some believe that Florida was the one who leaked all the Sumrall stuff yesterday hoping that it would bring Kiffin back to the table. It seems they are fading in that pursuit.
LSU is pretty confident they will have a decision before the Egg Bowl one way or the other. Credit to them, they kind of hid in plain sight in the Kiffin pursuit until it was time to emerge. There are some in their circles that are pissed at Kiffin for making everything with the planes so public. I think there was a lot of thought that they could hammer this stuff out while Florida had all the public momentum.
Kiffin has irreparably harmed his reputation in Oxford and I do not know that he will ever fully recover. There are a lot of questions in the building on what he is going to do and he is trying to play it off like nothing is different and it is business as usual. I know of two boosters who have told Keith and Glenn that they want a decision BEFORE the team leaves for Starkville on what Lane is going to do. There are multiple starters whose reps have been in contact with Walker Jones about needing clarity on the situation. There is a growing sentiment in Oxford that if they lose next Friday, OM will push Kiffin to take either the LSU or Florida job.
No inside info on this, but I think Kiffin wants to go to LSU but wants to coach his team in the playoffs. I think he is going to hold off for as long as he can and kind of force OM to make a decision one way or the other.

does anyone blame kiffin for wanting the LSU job? or for wanting to coach this team in the playoffs?
i do get that he hasn't handled this whole process very well but besides not tweeting/attention whoring, what should he have done or thought differently?

Another classic , memorable BFTGE, and national eyes are on this game. We need to step up in a big way and play with nothing to lose.

Objectively, I don't see why he couldn't do both.

Kiffin is caught in a tough spot really and it started with Carter pushing the ?get a contract done? agenda. He said he wanted the same thing that Indiana did with Cignetti.
I don?t view Cignetti and Kiffin in the same light. Kiffin has been a successful head coach for years now and Carter essentially started this turmoil by presenting the contract mid season. It?s undeniable that Kiffin is a good coach.
I can?t blame Carter for that and can?t blame Kiffin for not signing it yet. This is nothing like Mullen talking to Miami or Maryland.
Despite what Ole Miss wants to believe, they are not Florida or LSU. Florida and LSU have more pedigree and similar resources to compete. OM truly has no pedigree. No one outside of themselves credits their natty from 80 years ago.
I?m unaware that Kiffin had anything to do with the private jet info being leaked. Fans stalk that.

I don't necessarily blame him, but I also understand the schools wanting the coaches focused on assembling next year's team.
The portal is open Jan. 2-16. That means December is the scouting and tampering period. There is now no spring portal. So what you get in January is what you get, so you have to make it count.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

I'll tackle this from both sides. Let's say he wants to take the LSU job and intends to take the job.
LSU- Pending OM makes the playoff by beating us, LSU is waiting til A MINIMUM of Dec 21st for their new HC and since OM has lost 1 home game in 3 years they would win and would play on Dec 31 or Jan 1. That means at a minimum LSU's new HC has missed the early signing period for HS and the portal opens Jan 2, the same day he would be officially accepting the job. So that means he would have 19 days to build a staff, recruit his new roster, and recruit the portal. And what if OM wins that? Then it's January 9th or 10th before he could take over at LSU
Ole Miss- Again pending OM makes the playoff by beating us, Ole Miss will probably assuredly win the home playoff game and be playing until either NYE or NYD, and this is pending they wouldn't win a QF game and be playing until later. So Kiffin takes them all that way and then poof, he's gone. Now OM has to hire a new coach, help that coach build a staff, recruit their roster, and recruit the portal. And btw, the whole time Kiffin is basically tampering with his Ole Miss roster to come with him to Baton Rouge.
None of these options are feasible anymore. It's just the way the calendar works
Also what if he doesn't decide to take the LSU job, then LSU is left waiting til the middle of January and potentially misses out on coaches because they were waiting. Neither school can afford to wait.

Didn't kiffin get fired last minute by Saban at bama after LK took FAU and stayed on as OC for championship? Think he did for not having his head in the bama game
Another thought is do you want lane's around your team for a month to talk them into leaving with him?
