Yep, Relf and Dixion there and we win that one. Even though we lost games that year, we finished strong and improved and gave hope for future. However the outcome Friday game, we need some hope for future - like KT showing out and team rallying around him. A win would do it too but we got to show something better than the last two weeks.

Mannnnn that had to be agonizing! Lol.. just waiting for the go ahead TD that never came! Tragic but funny story!

FWIW... Lebby said Shapen would be the starter in the Egg Bowl if Shapen is 100%.

That if he's 100% thing is why I think we end up seeing Kamario. He keeps mentioning that and now he'll have 13 days to get Kamario ready. It's also a bit of gamesmanship. He makes OM prepare for both.
Now am I going to sit here today and say that Shapen doesn't "ceremonially" take the first snap or even play the first series? No. But I think Lebby unleashes everything at Kiffin and Golding in 9 days. And unleashing everything in the clip involves having Kamario involved. OM has trouble with mobile QBs, see Taylen Green and DJ Lagway. Kamario is who gives us the best chance Saturday. He's shown enough at this point to show he can hold up. It's time. I don't know that he's completely ready. But Chris Relf wasn't completely ready 16 years ago either.

I dont know if he is completely ready either but I dont think it matters at this point. I think he needs to play a considerable amount of the snaps. Like you said.. Even if Shapen starts, KT needs to be involved. And not just red zone situations. Simply for the fact that I think Shapens confidence is shot. Plus as you mentioned, OM does have trouble with dual threat guys.
I was wondering about the 100% thing. I didn't think Shapen was injured. I figured it was a gamesmanship thing like you said or just saying coach speak to keep Shapen involved and try and build some confidence up.

Absolutely brutal... and on 4th down, I've already told the family and friends watching it with me that we had scored. So when we didn't, the loss was 10 fold as painful.

If only he had a family member with a proven track record of successful P4 teams.
I think Lebby will be fine and probably gets some advice from the in law. If Steve is right and we are actually game planning KT we have a shot.

I have no qualms about how Mullen called that series.
Bingo. The only thing that went wrong that series was not pitching to AD on the option. Now should Dan have told Lee to pitch it to AD unless Lee saw he'd walk in untouched? Probably. But coaching didn't cost us that game.

In defense of Tyson Lee- Chad Jones made a hellacious defensive play to keep us from scoring. It was a great call by Mullen. As was his call on 4th down. If you watch the replay- Tyson saw some daylight and tried to get in it to score and unfortunately he didnt. But yeah- pitch it and we win the game. Losses like that are so tough to take.
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

I have defended that call for years, only an incredible play by a great player saved them....it was a great call. If you have seen as many DOG losses as I have by going conservative and running up the middle where there was no opening (especially in big games), it would make you sick.....

I think we're all agreeing/saying basically the same thing. Regardless, my point that Mullen winning the 09 Battle for the Golden Egg wasn't some fluke that no one saw coming. That's exactly what Lebby winning in two weeks would be.
