    Baseball Flipmas: Denton Lord

Big RHP in the class of ?26 that was committed to florida. It looks like he is projected in the top half of the 2nd round. Todd was on this well ahead of the announcement.

The baseball recruiting right now is insane. The 27 class may end up being the best in the country when it is all said and done.

We need to host and make a super this year at minimum. Then we are back.

Our schedule is brutal, and we have a lot of new faces that have to gel. But we will be good at some point.

Absolutely brutal schedule. No way to go through it without some bumps and bruises.

It could very well be. We're turning Team USA into our own travel ball organization.

We'll see. I think he is definitely a potential draft risk.

This guy could be throwing 100 MPH with some development. If he comes to school he could be our ace. And I only say that because Wilson Andersen could also be our ace.

Perfect Game grades Lord as a 10 (out of 10) - "Potential very high draft pick and/or Elite level college prospect" and shows his commitment as MSU. Class of 26, RHP, 6'8" 215. How much NIL will be necessary to keep a 2nd rounder?

They got Bauer and Jacob Parker here. NIL is making getting big time guys to college much more of a thing.

I’m sure NIL doesn’t hurt but when they are this highly rated, the kid just has to want to go to school. O’Conner seemed to get quite a few of these types to Virginia; the question is, how much of it was O’Conner and how much of it was Virginia (good academic school)? Probably some of both.

The more of these types that we get committed, the better chance we have of getting one or more to campus.

I mean Lemonis was getting these type of guys to commit..the glaze was never this strong. But glad we are a baseball school and shelled out a portion of the $1.2MM in net income we got from the alumni game on this guy.

I've seen numbers that show that college players actually make it to the show quicker than those that go the minor league route. Assuming that is your goal (which I would guess is the lions share) and the availability of NIL, more and more players will go to college.

BOC is about as well connected as any baseball coach in the country. He's going to get damn near anyone he wants.

Go look at UGA, Auburn, and Florida baseball recruiting. This not an outlier player for college anymore. MLB likes college baseball for many players. There are unicorns and freaks they want at 18, but many others are preferred at 21. Other than unicorns, college is replacing time in Rookie, A, and A+ baseball. So the player and the MLB teams are gaining with SEC Level baseball experience

This is correct. There is talk of doing away with all A ball in the minors. MLB is looking at what the NFL is doing by using college as the minors. Even been talk of certain MLB teams partnering with college teams to place top prospects at their programs to get the early development they want. For once we may finally be ahead of a coming future curve.
