That's an unbelievable coincidence even if totally unrelated.

The only thing that seems to make sense is Kiffin was still dancing with them about coming back. By the time OM decided to stop cutting bait, the music had stopped and all those names had a seat elsewhere already. Likely Kiffin was being disingenuous at the very least and OM should have realized it sooner.

Kiffin had them by the balls. He wanted to coach in the playoffs and Carter said no. At that point, Lane could have left. He didn't and chose to drag it out to screw OM as much as he could. Carter couldn't fire Kiffin unless they was willing to pay the buy out. Sumrall wanted the job and OM wanted Sumrall or Golesh, but neither waited around. They had to make decisions quickly while they had the opportunity.
Now Carter could have suspended Kiffin, but I don't know if you can hire a coach outside the program under those circumstances. If you can, that's probably what he should have done in hindsight.
Kiffin really royally tried his best to burn them before he left.

Yes, but it?s been obvious he was leaving for weeks. Carter dropped the ball big time. Its hilarious watching the Rebs try to spin this hire.

They panicked and tried to show the playoff committee they had stability. I love it

Just another example of C34 talking out his ass.

They could have let Lame coach them thru the playoffs and had a real coaching search. Their pride got in the way as usual. They cant handle not being viewed as a destination job instead of a stepping stone. It eats them up to their core.

There are times I'm giving an opinion and there are times I'm spreading info I have received. Hiring Golding was my opinion because I thought it was really dumb and didnt think an AD like Carter would make a mistake like that.
So you agree with Carter and Golding is a good hire I see. Well, we shall see evidence soon.

Have to think Carter believed the playoff game was his hole card to get him to stay. He wasn't holding as strong a hand as he thought.

What do you foresee the committee doing with them?

I had ZERO doubt he would leave. He's a moron but he's not a COMPLETE moron.

Yep. How it played out the end with them hiring Golding surprised me too. They really thought that they could keep Kiffin and didn't have a plan B. Cohen handled Dan much better.

I think they're going to drop and have to play a playoff game on the road.

Yeah- they have to drop them some spots losing their HC and both OC's
