I mean they could tell him he either signs the extension or he can resign. If he's suspended without pay then he can't sign an agreement with Florida or LSU. He HAS to resign from Ole Miss to sign the contract with Florida or LSU. There are laws that prevent him from signing anything with Florida or LSU while he is employed at Ole Miss. You cannot sign an agreement with one state school and be employed by another state school.

So Lane has leverage to an extent, but it's not as much as some perceive him to have.
