We tried to get a number of QB's to come to State in the offseason- we werent competitive with money vs other teams. $1MM we offered for a QB is bargain shelf price
aGAIN- our roster is the cheapest in the SEC outside of Kentucky.
And if that was the only reason we were 5-6, he would still have the support of most of the fanbase. Instead, he had a golden opportunity to beat much richer programs like Texas and Florida, despite our disadvantages on the lines, and instead brainfarted them away. That's why he's lost the fanbase.

Supposedly we spent 15 mil last year. When does rev share kick in? 15 mil of the 20 needs to go to football and add the same 15 mil we raised last year gets you to 30. I guess I?m thinking, correctly

On whether or not we can compete in today?s college football environment comes down to a huge question I don?t know the answer too. Do we actually have rich enough boosters to field a 25-30 MIL roster or do the rich boosters we have just do not care enough? Unfortunately, I think it is a combination of both, but I don?t have a way of proving it either way. If the answer is that we don?t have enough rich boosters, then there is not much we can do. If the answer is they just don?t care enough, this comes down to culture and is completely the Universities fault for acting like Arkansas State and not an SEC school.

We need to understand one simple fact that the Confederates and many of our league brethren figured out a long time ago. We are the university, we all walk hand in hand. As of right now a football game day in Oxford is an economic engine. People arrive for a game day on Thursday and pump money into the local area, (including Batesville and Holly Springs) the university and they are thriving. They the alums/boosters and university people all worked together to lay the financial foundation for their success today before they fired Matt Luke, they were prepping for this before that. They understood the situation that was coming their way and planned accordingly. Needless to say we failed that test. And for acting like Aky State, that is squarely at our feet. Alums and boosters call the shots to great deal and are where the $$ for athletics come from, along with our check from the league, we put ourselves in this situation by pushing unqualified individuals into billets they never should have held. So the culture is of our own making. It's up to us, ours to put up or shut up. It's past time to figure this out. But we are to petty, to divided, to willing stab each other in the back over perceived injustices to get our preverbal shat together and are reaping the reward of what we sow. Amen

Agree. However some years we might get 7 wins. As horrible as we looked in the last two games we could have won a couple more if not for Lebby?s dumb ass decision making. But on the whole State will probably fall even further behind in the NIL funding making it even harder to compete.

agree..... and hopefully this is the final wakeup call. We have some really smart alumni, successful. Are they now at the table for leadership or is it the same ole "lets hire one of us".

    exactly

Lebby is obviously a good enough coach to have this cheap roster in a position to have 2/3 more wins. but it is 100% on his in game decision making as to why we are not bowl eligible. and as the weeks have progressed and the decision making has not progressed, and the weaknesses of the roster are getting exposed, fans are getting fed up.

Lebby should not get fired and realistically he isn't. but he definitely has to bring some offensive coordinator type coaches in to help him not be a complete dumbass when the game is on the line. or in the case of the texas game...when the game is squarely in hand.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. He just needs an actual OC and for him to stop being the OC. Even the best offensive minded HCs don't call plays outside of the first series. Lane scripts that for OM and then Weis calls everything else. Lane can obviously override the play call but Weis is the one in the QBs ear giving him the play. Dan did the same thing here in 2015-2016. He realized that he needed to take a step back in the play calling and let Brian Johnson take it over. Brian led some great offenses in 15, 16, and 17.
