Jans
Im watching UCF vs Texas A&M right now and even though Riley Kugel is having a slow game he is making big plays. He's averaging over 20 ppg as well... How the hell couldn't we capitalize on a talent like Riley Kugel? Outside of Josh Hubbard, who pretty much runs the show, who is Jans developing? Other than yelling at his players for 4 years straight and supposedly being a defensive coach how are we progressing with Jans? I appreciate us making the tournament for 3 years but if we take Hubbard away what do we have??

How about this - we are not a basketball power school, and he has gotten us to the post season for 3 straight years for only the second time in the history of the program.

We've made 3 straight tourneys 2 times. Stansbury and Jans... that's it

I agree from an x's and o's perspective but there's two things that are a tad bit worrisome. First, our D was not good last year and it doesn't look any better this year. That's effort and is supposedly the trademark of his teams. Also, he's an average recruiter, at best. I realize some of that is tied to NIL. So, you take the good with the bad but as you said, we've been to three straight tourney's so I'll support him.

In a state that is producing ZERO basketball talent right now. None.

The problem with Jans is he coaches one end of the court. He loves defense, but he hates offense apparently! The good/successful coaches coach both ends of the court, and they recruit accordingly. Bruce Pearl for example, coached the entire court, and he gets his point across by coaching offense and defense. Jans doesn?t do that. Stansbury?..recruited well, but he coached defense, rebounding, and scoring. We have a 5?10 guard that if he has an off night?.we?re ****ed! Sean Jones is a starter?..he?s a nothing more than situational player anywhere else! Rick Barnes?..coaches both ends of the court as well. We have really good basketball resources, yet we have 11 new faces and 9 of them can?t chew gum, walk, play defense, and/or throw one in the ocean! We signed a European player that missed 2 dunks in our first game, is a turnover machine, etc! Jans needs to do 2 things?.make some staff changes, and focus on signing scorers that are capable of playing defense. Again, we?re 2 games in, but damn we look like a G5 team at best.

That is absolutely true. Think of the number of players that came through this State during the 80's and 90's compared to now.

Im concerned that this is Jans first roster that is completely his and its clearly the worst roster we have had under him.

AAU. And also kids with talent end up going out of state/ With one exception Booker who actually came to Moss Point.

I don?t know about cancer, but he definitely did not relate to Jans? style of coaching. He didn?t respond to ass chewing well!

Thats all fine and well but is that the standard? Saying we are not a basketball power school means what? Why cant we become a basketball power school. We have had success in basketball under Stans and Williams...

He got worse as the season went along. He was great early in the season vs Memphis. A lot of guys don?t like getting yelled out during the game. I may think it?s soft but its not 1994.

Jans = basketball Dan Mullen

No I didn't. I stupidly called for him to be fired in year 1 after home Florida loss.
