In watching highly sucessful teams in the SEC it always seems the have-nots have one major factor in common -- those who become head coaches turn over play-calling to assistants. You can say Kiffen is the exact opposite, but you cannot deny the fact if it were not for Saban having him OC at Bama made him able to do so. I would also like to point out how Moorehead was always claimed to be the best OC in the country and absolutely ruined everything when he showed that a HC he was not. We know Lebby was a top OC at Oklahoma, but as long as most of his attention is on one side of the ball the other sides will suffer. Mullen was successful as an OC and as HC for State, but he showed true colors at Florida. We need a head coach who can contribute but leave the call playing itself to someone else and just run the program.

No I live in a bubble in the state of oblivion. Of course I have, we live in the SEC all this come with the territory.

Expectations are indeed reality. We were expected to struggle to win 4 and have exceeded that this season. Winning 6 would be a helluva season

I just watched Candy's HC pass on kicking the FG with a minute left in a tie game to go for it on 4th and 1. Didnt get it.
Analytics have changed the way coaches make decisions now. Hell, our team in HS went for it on 4th down inside our own 40 about 7-8 times this season.

Yep, bad decision, seems now days more teams are going for it. I would have kicked ii.

I don't have a mathematical model in front of me, but there's no way Lea made a decision made on analytics there. Just a colossal screwup.

Agree. And we absolutely have got to keep KT. I'm a bit concerned about that due to the way his Dad acts.

analytics says always go for it on 4th and 1. He gets it and he gets to run the clock down to 3 seconds and win the game or go to OT. No guarantees either on 40 plus yard FG's. Our kicker missed from 37 Thursday and he is the best kicker in the state- signing with A&M next month.
I would have kicked it there tho myself. I'm not big on analytics- I go by gut feeling

There are no "always" when it comes to analytics. Most situations you go on 4th and 1, but I can just about guarantee you you kick on 4th down from the 25 on a tie game, mathematically speaking, if you're maximizing your probability of winning.
Pavia really wanted to go for it, and Lea allowed it. Just a bad call from the coach that didn't end up hurting them.

His dad is nothing to worry about.

I would have kicked it also. I'm just pointing out that today's coaches do shit differently than they did even 10 years ago. One thing has always been true- sometimes you look like a genius- sometimes a dumbass
