And btw, I would start him. Even if I do not believe he is ready. So what if you lose 41-0 the next two weeks? You are not going to the playoffs. Hell I would have started him after Florida for that reason. There is no downside. He performs well? Great. You have your QB. He sucks? Great. Go get another QB in the portal.
Agreed. He's made enough progression to run this offense with tweaks to win football games. He'll keep the offensive line and teams would stop blitzing afraid he'd take off or find the deep ball one on one. The deep pass is his most dangerous.

Granted he's progressing; I just don't think he gives us the better chance to win next week.

Teams are going to stack the box on him. He is inaccurate deep. He is like Joe Milton right now. Could he hit a deep ball? Absolutely. Will he? I would not bet on it happening. Which hey, if he hits one that means you have 6.

There is upside to getting that sixth win and going to a bowl game.

Exactly what I thought during this game. With our OL KT has a better chance to make something out of nothing. Plus this will give him some experience going into next year. Having said that…..I expect Shapen to start if he’s physically ok.

KT was 6/10 today. Shapen was 10/15 passing. They both have limits. Shapen is just really streaky and I'm honestly tired of it. KT is hit or miss as well. I can tolerate that more from a freshman. Either way limits the offense somewhat. You're either dealing with a QB with his head up his ass or you're limiting what we can do on offense and defenses will catch on quickly and honestly already have.

I'll say this though- QB play is not why we lost today. We keep doing stupid shit like going for it on fourth down in field goal range down 10 or jumping offsides after Georgia does the same thing twice. Now we wouldn't have won the game had we not done those things but at the same time it would have been a lot more presentable.

He's struggling with the option routes where he and the WR have be on the same page. That's why he's throwing out routes thinking the WR's are breaking off the route and they're still running. It's a adjustment the WR's that are accustomed to running deep for Shapen instead of stopping for Taylor. That's easily corrected with more practice. Let's not act like he's sporadic. I'm willing to bet his accuracy with the few amount of passes thrown are on par or better than Shapen.

    KT 87 yards passing
    Shapen 86 yards passing

He's running more than that now. And I don't think it knowing/not knowing the playbook as much as it is reading defenses and making the best choices. And yeah- he's a freshman that's normal. The problem is when he makes the wrong read that stalls the drive too.

So all of this discussion I have a feeling we're basically looking zero sum gain here.

It takes time esp in PRACTICE for QBs to get insync with QBs. Plus Leb needs to see what his current strengths are and target that.

I think Shapen faced a more engaged defense; so I'm not gonna read much in it, but KT's passes were more effective

On an unrelated note, Pissy scores 35 in the first half against Citadel. But Lamo takes his foot off the gas in the second half with only two TDs. Never thought I'd EVER see him go soft, especially with a playoff spot on the line.

Nah, Kirby doesn't play let your foot off the gas. They blitzed and he took off. They also blitzed 4th down and he converted. The long pass was also a blitz where he took a shot and still completed the pass.

Not really if you watched the game vs box score.
KT way better than Shapen today. KT 21 pts in 1.5 qtrs, Shapen 0 in 2.5

Shapen would have had 4 more sacks if he had played KT snaps

Play him and let me gain the experience and the first team reps in practice.

Oh, and kick 17'n FG when you are only down 10 to the #5 team in the country. Dumbass

This should be a 1 score game at half.
Against Missouri sure. We never really stood a chance against Georgia and the tiny sliver we had to win would require 7 not 3. I get the decision
