Yes and usually Josh would have been 6-20 at the 3s.. Glad he is going to the basket more.

There were some disappointing things but 11 and McGhee looked good. Hubbard looks even better. Fleming was better than I expected.

Its hard to really tell how good or bad we are. I do like McGhee, he can be that guy next to Hubbard. Epps didnt impress me much, I know its only one game but his style of play in general didn't impress me tonight, hopefully that changes. We do have some size which I like. Its going to take several games to really know what we have or dont have. Unfortunately we have #16 Iowa State coming up

Still not sure Shawn Jones needs to be playing 27 minutes. He played the 2nd most behind Hubbard

Nineteen point first game win. Noncon yes but we did see glimpses of what can be. We have SIZE. Jans just needs a little more time to settle into a rotation. Monday against Iowa State will allow him to zero in on that even more. Early returns are VERY encouraging.

Math isn't your strong point is it? Try 24pt win.

Yes Jones is a question mark early. We'll see if it's a one game anomaly or if he becomes a solid contributor.

Jones is our veteran glue guy. He plays hard and does a lot of dirty work. Get used to him playing 27 min a game

LOL!! The MSU MBA really didn't prioritize math skills!! But seriously just posted with 1:40 left and didn't update the final. But let's stay on point. The relevant message is still the same.

Davis Flemming looked really good too. He blocked and altered several shots, had a few buckets and rebounded. He surprised me

I get that and to his credit he does play his butt off and will defend and attack the basket. But he just misses so many shots, he shot 30% from the field, 20% from 3 and missed both of his free throws. Im not saying he shouldn't be playing because he does some good things at times, but he just hasn't been great offensively.
That said he averaged 19 mpg last season, 19 to 27 is a big jump. Once some of these other guys get comfortable his minutes should drop some but he will definitely be on the court as he should.

We went to the game. Jans tightened up his rotation big time in the second half. We went from one point up at half to win by 24. The European guy had seven points and 12 rebounds. The seven-footer looked good. As for Epps, in the postgame Jans said that he suffered a concussion against Houston and missed about 8 days. Warren looked to have really stepped up from his freshman year. McGhee looked very good on offense. Jones is a glue guy much like Cam, but I don't think he needs 27 minutes a game, and he took too many threes. As Jans tightens his rotation much like early-season games last year, I think this team has real potential. JMO.

North Alabama is predicted to win the ASUN and went 24-11 last year. Yall get too caught up in how bad these mid majors are vs sec football but they can play basketball and compete.

About what was expected last night. That's a good team that will probably win their conference going away. A few of things:
1. Hubbard was Hubbard. I thought he played great and the biggest thing....NO TOs.
2. Our 3 pt shooting was NOT GREAT. I do think that will come around though. Epps and Jones being a combined 2-10 kind of sink our numbers.
3. Achor and Ballard rebounded well in the minutes they were in and I think the scoring will come, especially with Ballard
4. Macura is going to be very good. I could see him starting over Achor before conference play begins. Same with McGhee over Epps.
5. McGhee is a DAWG in every sense of the word. You can see why Andy Kennedy really liked him as a player out of HS. I think he's going to play a big role for us moving forward.
6. Really proud of the defensive effort the last 16 minutes. From the 16:02 mark of the second half on, we outscored them 44-11. We really put the clamps on them.

He won't shoot that much when the season cranks up. He had 6 offensive rebounds. He's going to give you that type of thing every night

trust in Jans. winning ugly is what he does.. He likes this team--so I will sit back and watch. we have depth-and height. plus we have Hub.
