I'm Proud of KT and Shapen

Kamario has come such a long way in two months. Especially the last two games. Lebby did a good job of asking him to run plays where he rolled out and I think that helped his confidence. Today was really the first time I saw him make actual progression reads and most of (I think all actually) he made the right read. His TD pass was the best obviously, and I could be nitpicky and say that it wasn't a perfect throw because it didn't hit the receiver in stride but it was a very good throw nonetheless and really nothing to complain about because he threw it in a good spot away from the defender. On the fourth down incompletion I think he made the right read but because of where the ball was on the hash it was very condensed and I think it muddled up things on that side of the play and I think that made KT a little unsure of what kind of throw to make and the result was a bad pass. But, he made the right read and Ayden Williams was open. With experience, I think he will have more trust and confidence and deliver a ball that is a bit better in the future. KT also checked down a ball to Booth which was good! But he threw the pass at 110 MPH and Booth couldn't catch it which was bad. His running ability is natural and KT actually reminds me a bit of Arkansas's QB but with an even better frame. Once KT gets the hang of things, he will be a real weapon in Lebby's offense. Think Hendon Hooker at Tennessee.

Shapen, I feel like tries to do too much at times and sometimes that has bad results. He misses on some deep shot plays but he hits enough of them to be acceptable. I would guess he hits them at 50%. Two of his best plays early were checkdown to Fluff on fourth down which I thought was a really big play and to Booth for the TD. I can't say enough about how he led the team in the fourth quarter. He converted some really big fourth downs for us but I do think he got fortunate on the underthrow to Thompson on fourth down. The pass to Evans on fourth down was a nice, clean play that was high percentage and got the job done. As far as reads go, I thought he had one of his best games at MSU. The offensive line did him no favors and he had to deal with some drops here and there. His INT was a catchable pass, albeit a little high.

With KT's development it really I think adds to what MSU can do going forward. Because he is starting to show that he can pass, teams can't just key on him as a runner only. If Shapen struggles we can now pull him and let him have a breather for a series. And since Shapen wants to play, he has healthy competition that is going to push him to be better and hopefully smarter. I think it's going to be interesting to see how the last three games play out.

You can go back and see that Shapen was a totally change QB when he came back in. He thew an int that Evans should've caught then got obliterated when Lewis whiffed on another block but hung in there and got the ball to the playmakers.
