This could be the most important Egg Bowl in decades

2014 was obviously a big one and we blew it. 2022 was a huge one but after the fact, always good to win but it was bigger because Leach's last win.

    Few ifs here
    - OM loses one to UF or USC
    - Lane accepts the UF/LSU job after the Egg
    - We beat Arkansas
    - The NIL guys write another check this year

Everything Ole Miss has built in the past 5 years and owning us in Football can be flipped in 1 game. If we go into that game 5-6 and come out of it heading to a bowl game while OM loses their coach, misses the playoffs, and the transfer portal opening in a month, we have a once in a decade opportunity to flip the script in 3 months. Looking at their roster, there are 4-6 MS guys I think we have a good shot with if Lane leaves that would start for us next year. I think Lebby going into Y3 with an improved roster, grown up on some of these hard lessons were learning now, and all the in state momentum could set us up for a special year.

We can win this game- but it would take a perfect game to do it

It feels crazy typing this but I believe we could really beat anyone in the country..... however I also think we could lose to anyone in the country.

I don’t believe LK is leaving.....I just don’t not because velvet ditch is sacred ground, it’s just a great fit for LK and family. But I do know Arky was on a game winning drive and fumbled. Okie (If i read correctly) had their center and both starting off tackles out plus their qb missed several (wide open) receivers as the om broadcast team said. OK also fumbled a game winning drive. Om beat a horrible Kentucky team by one td. No doubt om is a good team......but a team that took Texas and Tenn to the wire can take them IMO.

If it gets to the Egg Bowl and Lane has not signed that new contract the rumors will be swirling like a cat 5 hurricane. And if we need one more win to get bowl eligibility it will be a slug fest.

I get that, but is that true in 2025?? Mostly they are hired guns. Do they really care if they are pretty dang rich at 20 years old? Or are just showcasing for their next pay day?

I feel stupid saying it but it would not surprise me if we beat the shit out of them. Oklahoma is the best team they've beaten. We had Texas beat badly before we blew it. And so on and so on....
I just look at our games vs their games. Lane always figures out a way to win the close ones. If Lebby can figure that out we are the same team as them with the same record.

I could also see us getting blown out by Arkansas. Lol

Some of those same things could happen even if we lose the Egg Bowl.

If we have Fluff mostly healthy I think that will help. We probably beat Florida and Texas with him if we're being honest because the last two games we have had major issues running the ball when we needed to. He's a special player. Plus, having Fluff and Booth is better than just Booth who I thought had a rough game against Texas.

Knowing us there will be a bubonic plague outbreak in Starkville that effects everyone on our team except for the scout team.

Ole Miss has 2 weeks to prepare for this game. If they still have one loss when they play us and we're the last team standing in their way, we will be annihilated. Lane learned his lesson last year against Florida. That's just the reality. This Ole Miss team so far has been different. We're not consistently physical enough on offense to beat them. We have the tools with Fluff but that will not be our gameplan.

Let's beat the Hogs first. Kiffin is smart to hold out before he signs his extension with Ole Dixie, Or I should say Sexton. They will suck Ole Dixie dry with the money they will give him. I bet he signs extension week of Egg Bowl to fire the fan base and players up.

We can beat them without playing a perfect game.
We were far from perfect against Tennessee and Texas. Mississippi is about on par with TN.

2014 Egg Bowl - Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator both looking and interviewing for jobs. Lost an Egg and Orange Bowl.

This was the problem with Mullen, even when he was still in the National, Atlanta, and SEC hunt.

Lebby does not have that problem, unless he wants to be a special advisor in Georgia or for Kiffin in Oxford.

SC played the heck out of Bama till their CB threw his hands up and let the qb run for a td. I think even if DOGS beat them they will get in playoffs......I just have a feeling they go to the CFP but the DOGS get that second loss.......why I don’t know.....but I do.
