If he does he's never leaving. Not soon anyway

Last 3 out of 4. That's the issue.

If he doesn’t now then he will be there for another few years and eventually things will turn sour and he and his family will be ready to leave. He will end up taking any opening to get out. That’s what happened to Mullen.
People always say “why would Kiffin leave?” Well, why would Mullen leave Starkville? He took State to #1 in the nation and would have been in the playoffs several years if things were then as they are now. I live between Oxford and Starkville and visit both towns multiple times a month. They are the same place with different names.

Bc he has the perfect schedule now and still wouldn't be able to win a title in your scenario

I happen to have worked for this family in my career, they do things in the billions. And this is real money, privately held with world wide operations. When asked the can and will fund anything that is needed. The crazy thing is there are more than just one family that helps them carry the load like them. Just one more point, they move very slowly, very carefully and deliberately.

Curious also why you think Bama is a clear better job than LSU
To me, the biggest thing is it is a lot easier to recruit at LSU. You don't have to compete with Florida State and Miami and all of the other national blue bloods like Bama, Ohio State, and Notre Dame for players. Basically, in Louisiana you have locals that will put a ton of pressure on players to go to LSU. You're also not far from Houston.
Florida as a state has more players as a whole though so there is a bigger pool of talent at least but I'm sure there are tiers of talent and you have to win your share of the top tier guys to make their fans happy.

Yeah, and two of those were Les Miles and Coach O. Not exactly Nick Saban although he won one there too.

That's the one, all from Jasper.

Without looking at it, olemiss’ schedule is surely getting tougher in the future. They should have made the playoffs last year but shit the bed against 2 teams they should have beaten. This year they have been played close by arkansas and Kentucky, 2 of the weakest teams in the conference; Washington St. played them close as well. He is doing a good job of getting talent to oxford; but as always it is not as much as the blue bloods of the conference have; and some of those have been struggling recently.

Is the majority of ole miss booster money from a few older guys? Other than Real Tree. Wondering what happens in a few years when that other money goes to relatives inheriting it.

Yeah and this is the sad part. This is where our culture has gotten to.

question is... with all of these coaches getting fired during the season, at what point does a sitting HC bolt during the middle of current season and leave their current team to get a jump-start on a rebuild at their new gig?
Would Layne (or anyone) even contemplate such a mid-season move (especially if LSU, UF and OM bid his annual salary up to say the $15mil/year range)?

Great question. And I think you nailed his future salary. I've been thinking $15 million is what LSU is gonna pay him.

You are a being imprecise Todd. That's 12 of 16 SEC schools. LSU, in particular, probably sacrifices children to Voodoo idols. Alabama would cross any line to add another football trophy.
That said, OM would pay 12 to 14 million to keep Kiffin. Especially if he makes the playoffs.
-
They've had several wealthy alums contribute several Million today to retain him.

Let's say LSU or Florida get Kiffin.
What is the Next Move for Ole Miss?
Deon and James Franklin probably too low class for them now. Brett Lachey is mid major-ish.

Jeff Brohm at Louisville would be a serious candidate. Maybe Silverfield at Memphis.

Sumrall would be interested if they would be.
