my neighbor sent me an article from a gators site saying they will or have offered 13.5 for 6 yrs. It also said that olemiss can't go higher than 11.2 for 4 years; they would love to be able to but can't b/c of nil and all of the other expenses that go along with being an athletic dept. I have always been of the mindset that olemiss will sell their souls for football and would find a way to pay him. We will see.

Some of the Florida folks are saying that Lane's daughter has applied to grad school at Florida
"We're going to keep trotting him out there until he matures." Chris Lemonis

MSU and ole miss can work around the 4 year issue. And on that "article" I think it was one of their guys on twitter posting it.
I am not for ole miss or anything, but the arrogance of FL fans not comprehending they are no longer in the fun and gun years.

This. Florida isn't a blue blood anymore than Nebraska is anymore.

We will see. Everyone said that for years about Notre Dame. Then they got rid of Kelly. Now playing in the national championship game. Florida will be back immediately if they choose to.

That was mentioned on a UF podcast I watched last night.
Finebaum was on somebody?s podcast yesterday and he said he knows people very close to Lane and they said he is really torn by this. It?s real. He is very seriously thinking about taking the Florida job.

Disagree
You can still win a title there. But consistency is harder there than other top schools.

And this is the thing. It's not what a program is now. It's what they can potentially be. Just like our baseball program wasn't as good as it could be with Lemonis so we went out and got an elite coach that can use our resources.

I don't think would win a bidding war with Florida though.

Ole Miss can go more than 4 years. Wish people would understand that. The state portion can only be 4 years. But state and ole miss both give longer deals via the bulldog club etc. kiffen is currently under contract til 2030. So the info is wrong.

Can they go higher than 11.2 per year though. I think that's the issue more than the contract length.

Money will be a non-factor. Not much difference in making 13MM or 11.5MM. Plus now they do contracts with the Foundations and such that are longer than 4 years because they are private entities.
It's going to come down to:
1. Does Lame want to live in Fla?
2. How much pressure is Layla/kids putting on him moving to Fla?
3. Does he think going to Fla is an easier path to a title due to recruiting and football program rep?
4. Is he willing to risk giving up job security for a more volatile situation?
That will be the deciding factors

I just read an interview with him talking about Florida. Here is what he said last time he played Fl down there in an interview. "It's special place", he met his wife, loves SS.......he also said he will meet with team saying, "this is what happens when you win, it's not about the money, it's about what we can do with winning every day."
Hmmm, seems he is a little torn but no doubt it is own his mind. I don't think a decision will bemad for a fews for him, no Florida and Strickland, who knows.

1.8 million a year is a difference, especially when you factor in no state income tax in Florida. That's another 520k in MS state income tax. So now you're talking 2.3 million a year difference. Thats over a 20% raise.
I get what you're saying about other life factors mattering more though.

It would be awesome if this time around, the kids make a video for him on why to LEAVE Oxford.

Florida never really wanted Mullen and I think that was part of the short rope that he received from them. Dan is a good coach; but he doesn’t like the recruiting game and has issues with assistant coaches. At Florida, you have to do it all bc they want to be in the NC discussion consistently. Other than Mullen, they haven’t really had a very good coach in quite awhile. As much as I hate to say it, Kiffen checks all of the boxes.
Look at some of the players that Sun Belt Billie was able to get to Florida; they have a couple young wr’s that are absolute freaks. Kiffen in the state of Florida with their money for NIL would change the landscape.
