They're too far in on it to go back to mediocrity. They'll swing big this offseason if they don't give it to Elander. I could see someone like Godwin getting a hard look. Depending on how he looks at UVA, I could see Chris Pollard getting a look too.

They may come after Justin Parker and his entire pitching staff!😳😳

Wonder if Henry Ford comes to MSU?
If MSU has a Right Handed DH at 1B in the Fall Game, then Ford looks pretty safe to snag a spot.
Just Unenroll at UT on December 5 and Enroll at MSU. We'll give him credit recognition for his semester with Vitello

He can absolutely do that. Unfortunately he'd still have to sit out. He can transfer, but there's no immediate eligibility.

i'm interested in how vitello works out in san fran. i don't know details but they should be a lot better than they are. they went all in on analytics with kapler and had that one great year. i don't hate vitello but i do hate what he allowed from his players/team. the thing about that is that the MLB is trending in that showboat/disrespect direction already. not gonna pull for or against him but i am interested in how this turns out.
of course from vitello's viewpoint it really shoulda been an easy decision. AD, supposedly, playing games with NIL money...so try your hand in the bigs, knowing the second it doesn't work out you will have a top tier college job waiting as soon as you want back in.

I believe he will do well at SF. Players seem to like him, and he is a "Junior Billy Martin" with getting on an umpire's rear end! Plus, I am sure he enjoys his raise.

If what I heard is true- I'm not going to say mediocrity but they'll definitely take a step back. It sounds to me like Tennessee wasn't as committed to their baseball program as much as he wanted and there were some issues with how their NIL was being distributed where Women's basketball ended up getting more NIL than baseball. And I was very surprised that they didn't just immediately promote Elander but it sounds like White doesn't want anyone on Vitello's old staff to take the reigns. Because of that I don't know that Godwin takes it unless he just wants a SEC job or something.
I think they end up with a mid major head coach or a SEC assistant like a Skylar Meade, Josh Jordan at LSU, Will Coggin or someone like that.

It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. MLB is completely different than college baseball. I don't think he will be able to act the way he did at Tennessee because if he does his players are going to be baseball magnets and some of the veteran players and leaders like Matt Chapman will tell him to knock it off.
I'm pretty sure Martin was bipolar and an alcoholic on top of that but his players liked him. Except for Reggie Jackson but that's understandable. I heard a story about Martin when he was the Rangers manager during 10 cent beer night in Cleveland that drunk Indians fans were trying to get into their dugout and Billy got a baseball bat and told his team- "Let's get em boys!"

he will definitely be "put in his place" antics wise when it comes to the umps. he shows up with a reputation and nobody has bigger egos than MLB umps. and i love a good kerfuffle between a manager and an umpire so i look forward to it. but yes he will dial it back, but from what i've observed he does appear to be a players manager so i'm sure his guys will like him to a point...and if at that point they're winning he'll continue to be liked.

I am sure he knows he has to make adjustments to MLB players. I am sure money was a factor as well as chasing a WS ring. Plus this NIL is or has gotten out of hand and he may be tired of it as well.
