I think the novelty has worn off. All the talk of branding, wearing the same helmet every game like Bama would be good for brand recognition.
2 good uniforms would be great. It would also save money. Look at MTSU.

I have a teenager playing High School football right now and as dumb as it sounds to us, these kids love the variety of different "drip" as they call it. They want to look good while playing good, I get on my son about it all the time. Only a few teams out there have that brand recognition of only wearing 2 to 3 uniforms, one being Bama. Even traditional programs like Notre Dame have vastly expanded their colors and options... this has been going on for several years now and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.

UGA has a black uniform
Ohio St has grey and black alternates
Michigan has a yellow alternate
Notre Dame has green and they have one special alt a year
Penn St has started introducing some alternate elements

Same and its not just jersey and pant colors. Its all the accesories too- turf tape, eye black, glove color and style, the pre-wrap under the kneecap, all the different types of mouthpieces (some guys will have a practice and then a game one), wrists being taped, shoes being spatted. Getting dressed for games now is a damn fashion show
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

That has been happening for a long time but it just used to be the kids that didn’t play that did it.

I don't keep up with Penn State much, but I don't think I've ever seen them wear anything different from their traditional uniforms. What "alternate elements" have they introduced?

It's their generations of greatness alternate that they started in 2017. It's subtle though. Added numbers to the helmets, white face-mask instead of blue, different number font on their jersey and white shoes instead of black.
