    One thing about Lebby

It has become very consistent that players love playing for him. I realize that plenty of losing coaches have had this trait but it definately helps in the NIL era. That mixed with proper discipline (looking at you Joemo) and coaching can go a long way. It gets me more interested and optimistic for sure.

From what I understand Lebby doesn't shy away from discipline and also doesn't let the players choose how they approach S&C (like Joe and Stay Puft S&C coordinator).

He mentioned in the article on GP that he wants a physical team that ain't scared to hit or be hit. He said the team looks much more improved in that area. The practices have been far more physical than last fall.

Same thing I'm hearing as well. It seems he knows how to get the most out of each player.

He seems competent to me. That?s more than I can say for 3 of our last 5 coaches.

What I like about Lebby is that he is known for QB development, sort of like Mullen. What's different is this man was an OL and he gets what it takes to win, OL is the priority for an offense. Even mediocre RBs, QBs & WRs can look good if given enough room to run and time to make the 2nd / 3rd read in the progression.

Last year was set up for failure with the roster. I was impressed that for the most part the team played hard even at the end of the season. A lot of teams would have quit after so many losses.

I've had more than a couple non-MSU fans say they think Lebby is a good coach and will do well given time. I'm blown away by how many State fans have been so vocal in a negative way about him, especially considering the mess that he was willing to take over. He was getting high praise as an up and comer before he went to olemiss as OC. He was their fallback for when Lane left.

The simple fact that last year we could only run on average 80 plays and this year we are averaging 110 approx. what a difference. That is 33% more plays on film each scrimmage.

The head scratching, blowout loss to Toledo at home is what turned many off. He?ll have to win 5 or more (tall order with our schedule), to get folks back on board. He put himself in a huge hole by not having the team ready for that game.

We'll see what he is able to do. Got win at least 4 and get a conference win. Bowl game this year and it's been a successful season for sure

and let me add- I think Lebbo is a good football coach. He has proved it as an Asst. My worry is about how we are going to amass talent to keep up with the conference. We have certainly upgraded the roster. The RB room is legit. Buttttttttttttt- we arent sure about the rest of the roster. Thats what we are about to find out here real soon.

It's even money Shapen is still our QB at midseason because of his plastic like qualities. We shall see what happens

Most MSU fans aren't very good at seeing the big picture.

I think this is a really good observation. Their offenses aren't really all that similar in how they use the QB. Dan pretty much wanted a tank at QB that could run the ball 20 times and make 25-30 passes a game. Lebby will run the QB but not nearly as much as Dan did. Lebby has much more emphasis on passing especially down the field. I like how Lebby will use more than one running back as I expect Booth and Fluff to split most of the carries almost with Booth getting a slight majority. We will see more WR's rotated in with Lebby as well with guys like Thompson playing multiple positions at WR and RB. It seems like Lebby uses the TE to me more based on the eye test but I wouldn't be surprised if TE usage ended up being similar. Loadholt is a really good recruiter and I don't think we will see walk-ons, TE's, and DL playing on the offensive line like we did with Hevesy at times.

I'm not sure how many options receivers had in Dan's offense. In Lebby's the primary read could be capped and the receiver will make an adjustment where we can still potentially get them the ball. I think that's part of what makes Lebby's offense so effective. And then the deep passing threat causes teams to back out of the box making it easier to run the ball. Hopefully, we will see more tempo on offense this year too.
