Interesting observation on media PR for MSU and OleMiss
Was in house yesterday taking a break from outside work and caught the Aerial American episode on Mississippi. I had never seen it.
Well they mentioned the egg bowl of 83 and the immaculate deflection while showing the Ole Miss stadium like it happened there. They spent 10 min on Oxford and OleMiss showing campus non-stop. Not one mention of State, notta, zilch. Did they pay of Smithsonian channel?
BTW Alabama had similar never mentioning Auburn.
What is up with that? And we wonder why OleMiss is the national darling.

This happens way too often. We've discussed it for years on these boards but it has never changed. They have a journalism school. We do not. They do a fantastic job of lying to everyone about how awesome everything ole miss is. When you say something over and over and as loud and proud as you can, people start believing it.

The funny thing is when people find out I go to MSU football games they usually ask me if I was at the game where the guy acted like he was peeing in the end zone and then they missed the extra point to lose the game. LOL.

Amen! The bigger the lie, the more they believe it.

We need to start a journalism school for the sole purpose of getting MSU out in the media.
Kinda like OleMiss has an engineering school just to say they have one; not like MSU does where it brings recognition.

If you watch the Smithsonian channel enough, you will soon discovery two indisputable truths: (1) Smithsonian network is incredibly liberal, and (2) every state history episode features one university at the expense of others within that state, i.e., Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, especially Texas. Also, the '83 immaculate deflection misrepresentation made me greatly suspicious of Smithsonian's overall reporting of facts.

Yeah, I agree. Thing is they could have easily working in MSU for just 1 minute or two and told the whole story and made it really good.

Looks like some folks are finally paying attention. Mississippi State football hasn't been in the SEC to the media since 2017. We're a G5. Look at recruiting services, Jackson media market, national media, national sports media, etc. There is one SEC program in the state now. Can we change that? I really don't know, now.

Well those Areil American shorts were made 10-12 years ago. Not to far from one of MSU's sports peaks. We have one losing season the wheels come off; OM can go 5 years without a bowl and they are preseason top 25 next year. Just the way the media swings.

Don't need a journalism school, just need to for Keenum to pay students a stipend for every article they get published. Maybe $100? There are tons of websites needing "clickbait" filler articles. Just keep pumping them out.

Actually Jxn media is way over the top MSU. Bo Bounds, Jake Whim, Matt Wyatt and Ole Miss doesn't anyone nationally near as big as BFW, who do they have Mintzi? I don't listen to 97.3, so don't know if Cross is still there main sports guy or not.
OM has had two very outgoing football coaches, we had Mullen, who though and acted like he was better than everyone else, JoMo an idiot, the Pirate, who died, while Levee and Arnett must be two the most bland coaches out there.

Right. Such as being one of the few states that have a presidential library

If you watched the episode, you?d know they talked about ole Miss cause they focused on the integration aspect.

I watched the whole thing, the racial stuff was only about a minute and that is fine. Could have thrown in MSU Croom as first HC in SEC too. 90% of segment was just OM/Oxford PR. It could have been equally done but wasn't.
