He was excellent in the regional when there was the crazy rumor Pico was out and heading to surgery.

Baseball America had him as the 2nd highest rated roster player for the draft. Baseball America thinks he was a Top-250 MLB prospect, up there with a few Friday Night SEC aces. They unranked him after he withdrew. Should be better in 2026 with his 2025 experience.

In college baseball, a pitcher can ride 2 pitches to big things. In the Bob Tweksbury book of pitching, he explained that the STL cardinals org demanded high control, common tunneling, differential speeds, and identical arm slot from any pitch claimed, by that threshold many guys only had 2 pitches and that was enough to be a good pro. BT got 13 major league years with his pitching philosophies.

You're a How many "out" pitches you have determines how many times through the lineup you should go.

Closers have 1 pitch. Starters have several.

deGrom is one that is a perfect example of this. First time through the order is a heavy dose of his four seamer. Second time through the order he mixes in the two seamer and sprinkles the change. Third time through the order he throws the breaking shit.

One thing to notice is who can change speeds with some run on their ball vs guys that throw a change that stays flat. Difference in having an "out" pitch vs just a 3rd pitch you throw to give them a different look

BC has +500 at bats of collegiate experience, SEC and Regionals, his numbers compare super favorably with some all time favorite bulldogs after 3 years of experience. We have seen dudes regress to buhdikha-levels before as Seniors, but I think BC could have a huge season in 2026.

We have very talented competition for playing time in the OF. The best/ones performing will play. It's pretty simple

I think Davis is better suited as a starter or long reliever than he is a closer.

We have pretty much met our needs but I don't think we can rule out getting someone that could potentially help short or long term like when we added Chris Billingsley a few days ago.

Some may say we have a need for LHP but even there I don't think we're that bad off.

I'm sure we would take someone that is a no brainer but I'm not sure anyone out there really falls in that category either.

I agree. I have a feeling honestly that we have enough potential starters that we end up using McPherson out of the bullpen to try to maximize our talent. Duke Stone has really emerged in the Cape since I first made this post and I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the rotation.

We could have a rotation of something like Volinicus, Stone, and Foster/William Kirk and I think that would be a really high end rotation with McPherson and Tyler Pitzer anchoring the bullpen as relief ace/closer roles.

I just wonder if we will have a set closer or go to it by committee with BOC. Thats one thing I never liked with Lemonis/Parker. We have good "closer" arms, let them close.

Yeah. I like having defined roles. Although I think having a closer by committee worked well with Tyson Hardin and Tyler Davis a couple of years ago. We did the same with McPherson and Dotson this past year and it worked OK too.

Best way to figure it out is to look at Virginia's stats and see if there was a guy that had the lion's share of saves. I'm not sure how much input O'Connor will have in the pitching staff but I suspect he will have more than Lemonis did since pitching is his background.
