Jake Gautreau
Have I missed Jake Gautreau getting another gig or is he still unemployed?
-
I don't know if he is back with Boras or not but as of now I believe he is out of coaching.
Before he left he was really picky about head coaching jobs but I am a little surprised that no one has at least hired him as a hitting coach.

Especially after his best year
-
His contract with us means he doesn't have to be in a hurry

There's was talk early about East Carolina but that didn't lead to anything

Great dude

If he turned down a decent HC job to stay with Lemon he is an idiot. Glad to see him land in a good spot

I don't know that he ever turned down a decent HC job. I know he was politicking for the Tulane job when Jay Uhlman got it. The only jobs I know he has turned down were the Memphis job in 22 and the Rice job when they hired Cruz. I think he gets the Houston job next year personally.

Wish him the best. He did a lot for MSU. I assume that depending on his contract this lessens our financial responsibilities due him.

I think this could very well be a short stay for him. Bianco is going to retire soon and it seems inevitable that Godwin will take over there eventually. That would open up the ECU head coaching job for him. I'm not sure how long Tulane is going to go with Uhlman. He's living off of them winning the conference title two years in a row after one really bad and a couple of good seasons that wouldn't have gotten them into the postseason otherwise. Tulane was a situation where the players lobbied for Uhlman. Those rarely end well. Houston I could see it too. Would be interesting to see if he kept Cheesebrough or not. I could also see him following Godwin to Oxford or potentially Lemonis whenever he gets another head coaching job if it is a good job.
