    Cameron Matthews Rockets

I know it's been said in the past that Cam doesn't have an NBA game. And I can't really argue with that but the Houston Rockets just signed him to a Summer League contract. While it is still a long shot, if you know anything about the NBA, Cameron Matthews fits right into Ime Udoka's system like a glove. If he were to ever make an NBA roster this is the team he would make. Some fans on Rocket sights like his intangibles and are hoping his defense can replace Dillon Brooks (a guy they just lost).

The NBA is a league full of roles, everyone wont be LeBron or Steph but there are guys in the League strictly for shooting, defense and rebounding, 3 and D guys etc. Again, it will probably be a long shot but Im happy he gets this opportunity.

Hey Hardin made a living coming off the bench. Cam can be that person.

    Go Cam!

It is a longshot, for sure with the lack of outside game.
He could be a specialist type player, as you suggest, which is totally his game.
With his on-court observation skills, he would have a field day stealing passes in the NBA.

I could definitely see him "like" a (late career) Andre Iguodala. He doesn't have the shooting, obviously, but he actually has very good court vision, passing, and cleaning up the boards.

Warriors is where I wanted him to go. Learn from Jimmy and Draymond. Become full Tony Allen / Andre Roberson.

And go in the gym and shoot corner 3s every day 500 on each side. Then 500 FTs. He'd eventually become playable.

Learning behind Green and Butler would have been awesome for Cam as well, but Im not sure how well he would have fit into their Offense, I wouldn't have minded that either for him though.

But in my opinion he naturally fits so well into what Udoka does. Udoka has a no nonsense defensive minded, tough nosed coaching style that literally caters to how Cam plays. He has been very successful using that style as well. One thing we all know that Cam will do is play very hard tough nosed basketball

Yea I'm more looking at what he'd be doing in practice and expect him on a G-League somewhere. He's got the makings of a consistent role guy in the NBA if he can just hit open looks at a 33% clip and FTs at a 70% clip. But that's going to take work.

My fear with the Rockets is they'll make his strengths stronger. But that doesn't turn him playable. A stud defender who can't shoot 50% from FT or make but 20% of 3s is just a black hole on offense. Effectively 4 on 5.
