Not that great. He allowed a lot of stolen bases but many times, that's more so on pitchers than catchers.
I think he's okay at blocking and framing. Big guy at 6'5

His is a definite upgrade over what we?ve had the last few years. If we hold onto our catcher commits, we will be set at that position for several years to come..

He didn't say that.
Ford may end up going to Tennessee, but Becker is down to us, Texas, or going back to UVA.

His arm is pretty good. Pitchers have to do their job and help the Catcher. But he can swing it- and that?s what we were looking for

That can be misleading a bit because as we all know that can be on the pitchers and it is a lot of times on them. Really what we need to know is his POP time. If he has like a 2.0 or so POP time then a lot of those steals were definitely on the pitching staff.
Cheese was also not a very good coach as far as developing catchers. We'll see what Kirby can do with him.
Worst case scenario we are looking at a Mike Piazza style catcher here that probably is average defensively that has elite power and can give us 10-15 home runs. And as I suspect we will add another catcher in the portal to go along with Mislewski, Owen, and the two freshmen I wouldn't be surprised if first base is a potential secondary option for him depending on how things shake out.

I would look at bringing in another catcher that's a 'defense first' kinda guy.

No. We have 2. And they're freshmen.

Maybe 1 of them is a real player. If not, they'll split after a year or 2 in today's portal climate.
