It's a big miss if we don't get Becker or Ford. There's zero way to spin it. Becker more than Ford because Becker is a position of need and might actually make it to campus. I'm not all that worried about Ford. He will sign a big league contract no matter who gets his commitment.

now if Ford and Becker dont commit anywhere before the draft- thats fine. If they do tho and its not us? Thats a battle lost. Curious to see how it ends up shaking out

He got lots of quality UVA guys committed. But I did not expect the entire UVA team to march off with the coach. People commit to the school, not just the coach. There could be an instagram girlfriend we don't know about. Miami got Carson Beck with a girlfriend being a factor. Wonder when Livy Dunn became a factor for Paul Skenes at LSU.

Plus, you have to expect Pollard to be working on these guys. Plus you have tiger-level competitors like Vitello, Corbin, Schloss, O'Sullivan and NILSU Johnson.

Getting these guys is not catching a can-of-corn.

I can see there being some UVA guys that don't necessarily want to move to MS period. It has nothing to do directly with Starkville. Just a very big change in culture especially for the UVA guys from the Northeast. Becker is the real miss if we dont get him because he is not draft eligible and plays one of our 2 positions of need. I really don't even want to commit NIL money to Ford who is a first round prospect and is not a huge need.

aGAINNNNN- not true. We didnt have the money in baseball we have now until 2 months ago. We had some guys step up and fund it the way the fans look at it. That's huge for the program. But yes- other problems still exist

Because other teams have more portal pieces and they're overall portal higher is better. Most of it is the former.

Folks complaining and being disappointed in one of the best coaches in the country being hired two weeks ago who has kept vital pieces of the roster in tact, has pulled quality from the portal with potential for more, and has excellent HS talent committing since he arrives is about as Mississippi State as it gets. For the love of all things maroon and white, please allow the man and his staff room to maneuver as they see fit. We will win some portal battles and we will lose some portal battles. This will NEVER change from year to year. Dudy Noble was not built overnight and this completed roster will not either. If he lays turds, by all means fire away. However, that is not remotely the case so far. He and his staff have been very good and are still working.

I don't think anyone is mad that he's kept the pieces we have or that we've pulled a few of the UVA pieces. I think there's always going to be consternation when you know you need pieces and you haven't yet gotten the pieces. The facts are that we need a 1B, SS, C, and at least 2-3 arms. Now they do still have time to get those pieces so it's not a massive concern on June 17th. Now if we're still missing those same pieces on July 7th then we may have an issue. And look, fair or not, we have a HC making 2.9 million with a NIL/rev share warchest of 3 million+. When you're paying and donating like that, people want results and they aren't too patient about it.
