I don’t think our basketball supporters have near as much money as our baseball supporters. At least it doesn’t appear that way. And our football boosters are clearly much poorer than our baseball guys . Of course, it takes a lot more for football

No. But baseball has just had a quite a few boosters that stayed away begin to give that changed the equation greatly for that program.

Our biggest basketball booster getting involved in baseball is a big reason we were able to go all in. Richard can cut a damn big check.

Well, compare how many MLB players to how many NBA players we have and that might explain a lot relative to booster money available in each sport.

Yep. And we went all in on the sport that makes the most sense. Now, we need to figure out how to get addition funds for basketball. That should be next.
Yes we all know football pays the bills. And frankly, 99% of us care more about winning in football than any other sport. The reality though is that we will never win a Natty or even compete for one in football. Especially with NIL and transfers. Just try to win 7 games per year, which will be a huge struggle.

Man, RIP shannondog (few years back), he was a huge basketball supporter. He loved Rick Stansbury, I miss his phone calls and inside basketball news. One great guy!

probably more like 5% MSU, 50% Texas, 45% Virginia. UVA landing Gracia and Kyle Johnson has helped their chances. Our coaches just have to convince him that he will only be in Starkville for about 10 months, he will have some teammates with him, same coaches as UVA, and Ace Reese providing protection. That plus a few more dollars in NIL gives us a 5% chance.

I just am not ready to fully give up on football until I see Missouri, USCe and Ole Miss down at the bottom. Those 3 are still competing and better than a lot of the top 9 outside of UGA, Bama and Texas. If they can do it we can step up to the plate and do it too if we put the effort and get the right coaching staff and start to win some games.

Mississippi and US are no longer the same. They consistently bring in 20-30MM a year in football than we do now

Yea I get they are doing that, but a lot of that is because they have had sustained success and coaching through the past 5 years. Basically they are in our Mullen era. If we were having that same success it should make the playing field more even financially. People are not putting money into a product that is going 2-10. If we could at least get some 6-6 or 7 win seasons I think the money would increase. Ole Miss maybe wasn?t the best example they kind of were more a bridge team between the top 9 and bottom 7, but Missouri and USCe are definitely on par with us and Missouri has won like 20 some games over the past two seasons. Their fans are spending and bought in because they have a solid coaching staff. Now I will say Ark and UK have definitely really struggled in this era. For Ark it is similar to us it?s a coaching issue and fan support. UK will always only care about basketball so I see them always being down with Vandy because of it moving forward. We just need to get a competent staff here and see what happens. Maybe Lebby will surprise me and start to pick it up, I?m just not sold on him and I never liked the hire from day 1

"We are building a monster"...........this was my exact thought following our 2021 season. I really believed Lemonis was the guy that would add numerous other CWS titles.

If you not excited about MSU baseball then you are not a fan.

    agree.

Got be to be portal watching and then the draft next month. I want Frei back so bad but I feel he will get a solid draft pick and enough money to lure him away

Ben Davis got invited to the MLB combine so he's gone. Frei and Teel are the ones to watch.
