    Men's Basketball Team

This team looks loaded. Appears to be one of the top rosters Miss. State has put together in a while. Also, the big freshman center... anyone seen this big guy on campus? Wouldn't be surprised at people asking him what position does he play on football team. The Utah State transfer is is big guy as well.

    A key addition, piece
The 6-11 Wichita State transfer Quincy Ballard's defensive presence including shot blocking and altering could factor huge for next season.

Jans had our team gelled in December this past season

It was Jan/Feb that we had issues. The SEC stretch we had in the beginning of the schedule was the hardest in the league, and it showed by our results.
The seeding is where we got hosed again.

I am somewhat optimistic about the team but concerned that we are going to depend on Josh for the W's again.
Need some outside shot assistance and a solid PG.

I agree but we had some in house team chemistry issues, let's hope this doesn't happen again. This NIL hurts in more ways than not with team chemistry, especially in basketball where I think chemistry is more important for "team play" than football or baseball.

I think Hibbard is going to average 25 ish this year.

At the end of last year he started really scoring by going to rim and hitting some
Mid range jumpers - scoring at 3 levels.

Hard to tell what that means for the team as I don?t know anything about any of the
    Other players.

I love having a shot blocker as it will greatly help 3 pt defense if he can protect the rim. The outside defenders can be more aggressive.

i agree with the 2nd sentence wholeheartly. I wish he would have gone to the key more. Heck he was a 90%FT shooter and got the 3s the old fashioned way instead of putting up 25 3s and hoping to hit 6.

You may be correct but if he's the same player he's been the past two years I'll take it. His defense will never be a strong part of his game but he is a scorer and he hits his free throws. Id like to see his assist go up some but they did improve from his Freshman to Sophmore year from 1.7 per game to 3.1.

I think our success will depend on what we get out of others, we know what Hubbard brings. Last season our issue was consistency from Kugel, Melendez, Harris etc. They were all hot and cold all season long. I also like that we have big man depth this season and the make up of our roster is better this year. Im not sure the SEC will be quite as strong this coming season either.

I would expect similar results to the last 3 years but Jans has to win a game in March. Also if we can avoid the February slump then we should get a seed like Ole Miss got last year where we can maybe get the sweet 16 with the right draw

Did we ever get a true 1 in the portal? Haven't been following. If I was hubb I'd accept moving to SG and averaging 22 in the SEC and getting fat NIL for 2 more years than being a superstar overseas

Sounds like Tee Barlett is on campus according to this article, Hubbard seems pretty excited about him.

Clary messed us up pretty good which caused some of those Jan/Feb issues. With him I think we win 2 more conference games, maybe 3 which totally changes our NCAA seed as well. Probably a 6 seed.

We got Georgetown transfer Jayden Epps and UAB transfer JaBorri McGhee. They are both somewhat combo gaurds but can both also play PG, McGhee is listed as a PG. We also still have Dellquan Warren who the staff seem to like.
