He had a lot of offers - mostly SEC. It was stated on here a deal was done to LSU.

If he had left, he wasn?t going to LSU.

So when we were told Starkville was too boring and small to get players, that was not correct?
-
Buckner to the portal, making room for Becker if I had to guess.

You were not told that. You were told it does factor in for recruits tho. We have been getting players season after season but so far All we have gotten is players following a coach because they want to continue to be coached by him. Also doubling your NIL for your new coach helps quite a bit

Oh I was told point blank that Starkville was keeping kids from coming here.
Of course having a hall of fame coach that kids want to play for helps. That's why the Virginia players are here.

*******, you 17ers are insufferable. Starkville is a small town, I grew up in it, left worked in some big cities and after 30 years gone I live here again. Small towns are not for everyone, it may turn some kids off it may be others cup of tea. But this line off garbage is tiresome FFS. So far we have been able to keep some kids we had to and added some that were already with our new staff. I?m hoping we can pull some more players out of the portal that aren?t so closely associated with us in one way or another. We need more arms and are weak as hell up the middle. Now Hail State and pass the Tito?s.

This. Yall hate on Starkville but change your story when the narrative doesn't fit. The one thing you've said that's right is it's about money. That matters as does the coach. The town not near as much as yall make it out to be. I never understand how you can say all this and watch what ole miss does at football and see what we've done past and present in football. Yall are delusional. It's money and staff. On occasion you get a guy like mangum.

If you're an athlete nowadays how much do those guys really go out anymore?
For most of the serious ones getting into the pros is the priority.

Those guys get out alot to chase girls. That is the main reason to go out in the first place. The advantage of being an athlete.

Which you can adequately do in Starkville. More than adequately actually.
Literally the last athlete I saw out anywhere was Ross Mitchell at a Wendy's in 2013 after we won the regional.
I get that these guys need to relax every now and then and whatnot. I've also heard of stories of MSU athletes being basically mobbed by fans when they're going out and I can imagine a lot of athletes not being real wild about that.
I'm sure that dealing with every Maroon Mary wanting a picture with you at the grocery store gets old pretty quickly. There's a reason why the players basically have their own area to hang out and relax at Dudy Noble Field so that they can get away from everything else. There are times that players are sleeping in there.

I'm not sure how much it's changed since I was there but I was there a lot closer than you were. Yeah they go to bars and frat parties but they usually have house parties, etc to stay out of trouble. They have no problem girls coming to them. The athletes usually party together.

Yeah. I think it's way different than it used to be where the baseball team would play a DH and then go out drinking beer all night at The Landing.

You get just as many beautiful women in Starkville and oxford than you do in Knoxville, Baton Rouge, and Tuscaloosa...and that's a fact. unless you an ugly Mfer.
