Because it doesn’t matter. We needed it to hang our hat on before we had a national championship but we have one now. We don’t need records that only we talk about. Our fanbase is looked at as elite not because of an attendance record. It’s looked at as elite because we cared when no one else did and never stopped caring. We have a top 3 fanbase and it is not 3. We don’t need attendance records to show people how committed we are.

Maybe. But I would say high attendance numbers are a positive thing and we could use all the positive press we can get whether other people or recruits ultimately care about it or not. Point being it doesn?t hurt to brag about fans that consistently show up

I think fans from other schools would agree, I don't agree with you saying it doesn't matter, it matters to Msu fans in general, doesn't hurt a thing. Oh, your take on Starkville (nothing to do) being a "small town" is way more harmful and awful. Now you tell me which is worse being a State Fan, asking for a Msu fan* LOL

Attendance for anything in Starkville matters, it helps with the city in many things, ask someone say at Little Dooey's!

Exactly, if no one shows up Starkville would die, attendance is very important for everything.

And that is fine. I think we do that pretty well. Hell pick a random spring night that we have a game and take a photo of the crowd. I don’t need an attendance count to tell me those people give a 17.

There are no quotes needed. Starkville being a small town isn’t an opinion. It’s a fact. We are the smallest town in the SEC and one of the smallest in P4. It’s not meant to be a dig. It’s just the facts. Starkville finally got out of its own way about 15 years ago when they elected Parker Wiseman and he started turning things around. We are still 30 years behind the other small SEC town, Oxford, in terms of perception but we are getting there. It just took getting some actual forward thinkers in positions of power.

Never bother me back when I was in school nor does it bother me today. I have never knocked Starkville, or Mississippi when I was traveling all over the U.S. with my work. Folks use to ask where I was from and I always told them God's Country! Give me Starkville over San Fransico 10 out of 10 times!
Hope 10,000 show up tonight, LOL! Btw I bet BOC says something about our fans and attendance.

I am sure he will. As I stated, we have a top 3 fan base and we are probably going to have 3500-4000 people there tonight. That is probably more than UVA had at Friday night conference games.

And again, no one is dissing Starkville. Hell if I hated it I wouldn’t have a damn condo there and pay the GD property taxes. But two things can be true at once. You can love a place and still want it to be better and discuss ways it could be better.

I like the big crowds also because when Georgia tweets out bragging about having 4k, like to be able to respond trashing them,

We take it constantly during football.

I embrace this advantage here. It?s well earned.

Great then don't speak negative toward it being bad for recruits or students like "there is nothing to do", Mississippi is a small, populated State with small towns everywhere, that is who we are! I love Starkville for what it is!

Ok I'm done, trying to help not harm in anyway. Ask my Grandson about his 3 years in StarkVegas, he loved it and still does!

Yes we do. The more non state fans know how dedicated our fanbase is any sport the easier it will be for us to adapt to this new age of college athletics. Thinking like this will always hold us back. Other schools would brag the hell out of even the smallest accomplishments.

I don’t know how this thread got high jacked to be about Starkville. IMO I would much prefer sending my kids/grandkids to State much safer place than Baton Rouge or Nashville or many other campus locations. Also less drugs. Sure it’s a small town but small towns aren’t for everyone but Starkville is safe, less to do therefore less to get in trouble. And some of the most genuine nice people ever. Ask anyone that had never been to Mississippi or Starkville and they most of the time come away saying deadgum those people are nice.

Good post. I agree. I wish SVS would stop with his attendance takes but he's dug in.

It is a difference of opinion. I appreciate your opinions even if I don’t agree. It drives conversation.

On another note, decent crowd. About what I expected. Looks like it is about 3500, which is incredible for a Thursday night

That number also doesn't include those that followed or watched online. Those numbers won't be published, but I'm sure the school will get them - and it will only continue to drive home the engagement of the fanbase.
