There is definitely always weirdness with our coaching searches.
A big reason why I wanted Lemonis to finish out the season was so that someone like Parker wouldn't start to gain a ton of support for beating Ole Miss and Mizzou. And I know that has been tempered and it's not going to happen but MSU still made that happen and I guarantee you that we are going to have fans mad that we didn't give Parker a shot because "it isn't fair" even though the best thing for the program is to hire Brian O'Connor or someone like him. I know a lot of people disagree with me and that's fine but I will say that I wasn't wrong about what I thought would happen with our fans.
With most of our searches it seems like there is a candidate who is favored for awhile and then all of a sudden the "real" guy emerges. Chris Peterson and then no it's going to be Kevin Wilson and nope it's Dan Mullen. Or it's going to be Billy Napier or Sarkisian and then guess what? It's Mike Leach. Or we're getting Schlossnagle and then it's who the hell is Chris Lemonis?
And I'm not saying we won't land a big fish- I think we will because there is too much interest out there and I feel like Dan Fitzgerald or Chris Pollard is the floor here but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's someone other than O'Connor.
That being said if you had to make me guess who the new coach is going to be I would say O'Connor.

So A&M announced they retaining Earley.
I didn?t actually expect them to move on but at the same time think they definitely should have. Thats an Arnett situation waiting to happen.

This makes me feel better about us getting BOC or whoever we are trying to sign.

My theory is that they were too embarrassed to hire Vaughan or whoever when we were getting O'Connor (who they really wanted last year), so they'd rather just pretend like they're 100% committed to Earley.

They have really bad daddy ball issues there. Toxic soup.

I think they are just going to try to hire different assistants. This likely doesn't end well for them.
Wouldn't be surprised if they try to hire Gautreau as hitting coach.

They should have cut bait and started over with O'Connor. Once a coach is gone that team and vision is gone too. Not a good idea to hold onto something that is over.
A lot of it though is they didn't want to lose all of their top players to Texas.
