    It would be interesting.

Do you think he would not be good or just wouldn?t do it?

I gonna be nice here, he won’t do it. He wouldn’t do it, on the doingest day of the year, with an electrified doing machine. We do need him and many others closer to the program than they have been and if this hire goes well and we can build some trust they will get back in.

If we were a bottom-feeder program or one in a mid-tier conference, it might be an out-of-the-box idea, but we have multiple Power Four head coaches with multiple years of success who would take our job, so why would we turn all of them down to hand it to a guy who's never coached before?

Let's see here. If I was a retired former MLB baseball player who has HOF numbers and made millions of dollars and am beloved by my alma mater including my statue in front of the ballpark among other things and again had millions of dollars the LAST thing I would want to do is go be a college head baseball coach where I am expected to compete for National Championships, bring in top 10 recruiting classes despite having never recruited once as a coach ever, deal with NIL and the portal.

MSU actually did something kind of like this with Jimmy Bragan when they actually chose him over Ron Polk. After one complete disaster of a season and an offseason where the boosters found out he couldn't recruit, Alex Grammas a former MLB player from MSU who was a teammate of Bragan saved everyone by hiring Bragan as a coach when Grammas became the Brewers manager. Had he not- Bragan was going to be fired and we were going to hire Polk.

Someone going from MLB to college and it actually working out is pretty rare.

Ole Miss found this out with Don Kessinger too.

And to add to this- no Buck Showalter wouldn't work either.

    Before anyone else says it.

If it went South with his statue out front that would not be good.

    I don?t think about that.

    Valid concern.

I actually vividly remember being with Raffy at the baseball tournament out in Arlington in 21 and someone asked him if he ever thought about getting into coaching. His response, "Not just no, but 17 no."
