There's a little grace for having an "off" season, but this year, there are 8 SEC schools that are going to be one of the NCAA hosts (as in they're hosting 3 other teams), and we'll be sitting at home. Additionally, 35-55 SEC record (<39% win pct) from 2022-2024 plus this year's crapfest qualifies as having run the program in the ground. I'm glad he's gone... finally!!!

Peterson was definitely harshest. Like I said, I get it. They are friends with him and have no affiliation with the program. They are going to be harsh.

But honestly when has the media ever shined a positive light on our school?

It would have been worse in 2023.

Did we just all agree on something? That this was the right move? Does this mean that we can all be best friends?

Kudos to Zac, who demonstrated a fair balance between patience and not waiting any longer.
More patience than I would've had.

But it was time! He either was too lazy or not organized enough to make these players successful. I have been following MSU baseball for almost 50yrs and I have listened on the radio, watched on tv or been in person all those years. I have seen some unbelievable baseball played at the Dude. But the last 3yrs were some of the worst that I remember. NOW SELMON GO GET US A COACH that will bring back decent baseball.
I don't like people making $40k to $50k a year getting fired because they may be the bread winner. I don't mind coaches make more than a $1 million living in million dollar homes sitting on millions in their bank account getting fired for not getting the job done. He was interviewed in the 4th inning of the Texas ESPN game and said we have a good ball club. So if we have a good ball club and are 7-14 SEC, the problem must not be the ball club.
We all know it is of course, but the recruiter extraordinaire brought in the "mediocre" ball club and now he is paying for his and his staff's poor evaluation abilities. Bye Bye Now!

He's our Gene Chizik of baseball. One NC and leaves a multi-millionaire. Hard to reach the top as many never do, but much harder to stay there. We tumbled 3 of the next four years.

Selmon has now fired two coaches midseason. He's got balls, let's see if he's got THE guy.

35-55 but some were defending him to the death

And remember this includes 17-13 last year. So 18-42 combined SEC record for 22, 23, and 25 year to date. And the fact is in 21, he may have led the team to a NC but his team certainly wasn't the best SEC team that year as indicated by the 2 7 inning run rule losses in Hoover!

Maybe 3rd time is a charm for rejuvenating my teams with a midseason firing. Saints continued to suck, and the grizzlies completely bombed.

I would have fired that 17er last season.

and our coaching choices would be cut down by half. Firing a guy that finished 5th in the SEC and made a Regional Final? Our new HC would have been the hitting coach from Fla Atlantic

College baseball media (such as they are) are unsurprisingly appalled, lol.

Which is why he should have been fired after '23- so we wouldn't have to keep him after making a regional and "showed improvement". He proved he didn't have "it" after '23, just like JoMo you gotta pull the plug when the writing is on the wall

I also like firing him now, so we can get ahead of any other teams that maybe looking for a coach. If you know it's done, zero reason to prolong the inevitable. Rip the bandaid off and get to work on the replacement.

Had we not had all the turmoil of the revolving coaches before him- I'd agree. But he got the pass- and deservedly so- because we had the turnstyle HC problem before he got the job. Thats affects the program and recruiting
