The old ?must be strong up the Middle? saying
Has escaped Lemonis. Absolutely horrible at catcher, our CF wouldn?t start for any other SEC team. Our second baseman can hit but average at best in the field. Finally have a SS that can make the routine plays. No wonder we sux. Plus Cheese continues to. Be terrible as a third baseman couch. And our HC is lost. How bad do you have to be for a change.
-
Gloves up the middle. Sticks on the corners. Recipe has worked for 100+ years.
-
We are serviceable at SS and 2B defensively.
And Chance is solid defensively in CF other than a weak arm. He made two really nice run-saving plays Tuesday.
But we lead the league in passed ball. Powell has to be your catcher going forward.
-
better email Lemons then. He won't sit 22 for long. He still thinks he stole him from USM.......he wouldn't be playing catcher at USM were he there.
-
No putting Powell in during the 9th with the 7-5 lead was weird. I know Ross had 3 hits, but his inability to block balls in the 10th moved the winning run from 1st to 3rd and prevented Dotson throwing a breaking ball to finish Furniss due to lack of trust that highfill could handle it.

most folk know that and see if regularly. evidently, Lemons doesn't understand this.

.Going forward? Well glad we got that one figured out right about the time the season is totally in the toilet. I guess we can dream about the remote chance of winning the SEC tournament. About the only way we make postseason at this point.

Multiple run lead in the 9th is where you would normally make defensive substitutions. At that point it's all about getting those 3 outs.

Not really. If you go 4-5 vs auburn, KY, and Mississippi and then sweep Mizzou, That puts you on the bubble going to Hoover.
-
when you can't throw a breaking ball to get the strike out-you are 17ed. How does an "ELITE" team not have an elite catcher? when ever we walk a batter-he then moves to second easily. That alone is how you lose. Why even pitch to Furness?

I don't think 13 will be enough to get in. Could be wrong.

Agree, that series with Mizzou will not really help us in RPI either.

Remote is right. Winning 6 games in a row vs mostly top 20 teams that have a pitching advantage. That might be the hardest thing in baseball now.

We stand a better chance of playing errorless baseball with zero base running blunders in every remaining game we have.

Mizzou almost beat bama last night. I am not sure we can sweep them. who even knows what the mental state of the team will be by then?

Fully agree, I thought with a Gov cup win 13 might do it because that's really another SEC win thrown in that just doesn't count in the standings. But now that we've blown that I think it's going to take 14-16 to make it. Bottom line is while we've beaten most all the bad teams we've played our record is horrible against quality competition. Per Warren Nolan we are 5-16 in Q1 and Q2 games while 19-1 in Q3 and Q4 games. That is pathetic and in no way do I think that gets us in at 13-17 if 3 of those wins are against Missouri.

Maybe not. But it would have you on the Hubble going to Hoover.
-
We don’t deserve to get in. Just fire him sooner
-
It doesn't matter in my mind. A change must be made to right the ship which currently has no rudder. This program should be a top 6 in the SEC annually even with Okla and Texa invloved. Lemons isn't capable of getting anywhere near sustaining a program of that magnitude on an annual basis.
