Wow, Bama goes from #10 in RPI, ranked #12 to a Regional 2 seed. Talk about a kick in the nuts. 17 Bama LOL

I expect us to go on a nice run, make it to a Super. Then do it all over again next year.

This is probably Selmon's worst nightmare. This team goes on a run, gets into a regional, and gets put out.
What does he do in that situation? Will the money still be there from the baseball guys like it was earlier in the year? Because that's going to be the decision maker. His buyout, the staff buyout, and buying out the coach we hire will almost all have to be privately funded.

That is a tough call for the AD. My guess is he stays under those circumstances.

It'll strictly depend on the main baseball money guys as to whether they are content with another Lemo rinse and repeat in 26.
-
I'd take that matchup right now.
We are going to a super with that matchup.
It's time to start supporting this team with all we have instead of talking about firing a coach
-
Based on our easy schedule. We'll have Lemonis bucket fart series in there somewhere that will require us to win tourney games I'm sure. Either way, spring football is this weekend.

If he somehow makes it to a regional or super, I let him have his last contract year and not extend. If he wants a new contract or extension, I put a super low buyout in place. If he doesn?t like that, then he can walk and problem solves itself. He goes to Omaha again, then he can have a big buyout.

That comment was forward focused, are you saying we have the 26th toughest schedule remaining?

I'm just going with the Warren Nolan metrics as to what he has on us today.

Something else that has to be realized:
The SEC is even a bigger monster now with the addition of Texas and OU. There is only a P4 now so that adds teams to the Tourney for us. We saw what happened in basketball setting records and baseball will do the same. This projection has 13 SEC teams in the field. That is very likely the case. Adding OU and Texas just made the conference RPI that much stronger. 13 SEC wins may be the new standard to make a Regional

We don't have an easy schedule by national standards. However, we do have an easy schedule by SEC standards.

I've already accepted the fact that if we make a regional then Lemonis will be back. Selmon is not going to make a change unless he absolutely has to. Only missing the NCAA tournament is going to force his hand.

I think in that case the boosters will demand some changes with assistants and probably try to get rid of Gautreau and Cheese if I had to guess. Well, I guess they could compromise and give Cheese a role within the organization as an analyst or strength coach or something like that.
Because then that would be cheaper than firing Lemonis and it could tangibly improve MSU like Parker replacing Foxhall did. We could probably get Coggin and Ammirati to replace them pretty easily.

I'm ready for Cheese to go no matter what we do. Baserunning and defensive catching are maybe the 2 worst things we do as a team.

I'm on board with GoTro and Cheese hitting the bricks in June

Without question he has been the worst performing assistant coach this year.
