Until we get someone who can tie our NIL to hotels, restaurants, shops, etc in Starkville-collectively a ?NIL Tax? we will still have some issues. And let me point out-we aren?t hurting for funds. We have more alumni willing to help and have the means to help than our own fans give us credit for (a lot of our fans feed into the narratives of we are poor farmer boys). We just need more. And we need a President who isn?t a goob and we need everyone pulling into one direction and not one faction here, one faction there. I hate to say it, but what OM did with their NIL efforts and ?screw you? attitude had paid off. Maybe instead of worrying about feeding the opposing team after sweeping us for the ?experience? we start worrying more about winning for once.
Keenum only has that position because all of his degrees are State. He would at best be a Prez at a D3 school, if not for us. Shameful.

Women's basketball is still alive in the postseason.
Time to accept what ya shoulda learned from ya grannies and momma - women in Mississippi are just better than men. Definitely better to watch. And I don't just mean that aesthetically.
Also we just finished 7th in the country in Indoor Track & Field. Could be a good outdoor season.
I get it - football is the moneymaker, baseball is the pastime, and seeing dude's dunk is fun. But if you want to play a long game at improving Mississippi State - make the women's sports teams the best. Lotta growth potential in their sports - Caitlyn Clark showed that. Need to get the Mississippi State version of Caitlyn Clark in all these other sports.
Caitlin Clark lost to Goldielocks and Limu Emu. Pass.

Or a lobbyist in DC making 3x what he is right now. He is doing this because he loves Mississippi State. You also do not judge a university president on the results of the athletics dept. Some still have not grasped this

Oh I know this. I'm more pissed about our academics slacking under his leadership, especially in the STEM fields, but didn't want to go off topic. Loving a school realllllly hard isn't a qualification for a job, either. He should go be a lobbyist, bc he sucks as a major R1 research university president.

You do when the university president is so involved.

Haha, it's so awful being a State fan.
I actually got excited for the weekend....State in the dance, the baseball team with a chance at erasing last weekend with a good road series, the women dancing (not that I really remembered)....
And what happens? Basketball team lays another turd in a big moment, baseball team sucks, ole miss women's AND men's team to the sweet 16, and their baseball team sweeps Mizzou on the road. And our one bright spot was women's hoops, and their reward is to be utterly embarrassed tomorrow night.
Yet another reason why people are becoming apathetic. Not only do most of our programs suck, they always find a way to ruin even the most exciting possible weekends. Our fans are very rarely rewarded with a good win in a big moment.
Hello darkness, my old friend.
Just glad I don't care as much anymore. Now if we happen to upset someone I just record it and watch the replay instead of putting myself through hours of investment to be disappointed

Yeah well when you love something that much and the results are on a downward trend, you need to back up and had over the reigns to someone who can right the ship. You and I have talked about this. His recruiting department on campus does not hit Dallas enough, does not hit the Carolinas, the FL panhandle, Georgia, etc.

Here's the optimist take. Juju hurt her hand and ankle. An O/U of 147.5 feels insane for how good these two teams are defensively. And if we get them in a defensive shitshow, we're like a pig in mud who can beat em with experience. Now come midnight tomorrow I'll be sad, but I ain't disappointed until the games over when it's the postseason.
-
And dont look now but Ole Miss may have 10 seed New Mexico to beat to get to the Elite 8.
Can't make it up.
But that game still has a lot of time left

Bank you and I have talked about this multiple times. I have literally gotten a message from the director of IFC cussing me out because I told someone his wife sucked at her job because we do not recruit out of state. You do not have to tell me our recruiting dept sucks. That is because the people under him have hired a bunch of Mississippi people who think we only need to recruit in state. Actually talked to Keenum about it at a wedding last summer and he agreed we do not recruit enough out of state so he knows about it.

He knows it, but nothing is being done about it. Sounds like either he needs to clean house or step away and get into private sector.

Appreciate the personal context, SVS. Truly. But...this type of interaction I've heard many times from folks that spoke with MK, and it's always the same thing. He agrees with them to their faces (i.e., politics) but never actually follows through (i.e., also politics).
Again, he'd be a great agricultural lobbyist. He should go do it.

I have never understood why he took the pay cut to be our president honestly. He was about to step into the real money in DC and just left to be our president. Again, I like Mark and maybe I have a blind spot because I do think he wants what is best for Mississippi State. I just get sick of people wrapping him into athletics because he had very little to do with that realm because he has hired someone for that.

Keenum is better with things not on campus. But he's got to stop hiring unproven people and then letting those unproven people hire more unproven people. OM is killing their hires and we either run it back or hire a nobody. Jans is the only non-first time HC. That's un17ingacceptable!

Oh I get it. I like him personally as well. He's been a gent every time I've been around him. But again, I know this thread is about sports, but my personal beef with him is primarily with our declining academics. Our athletics is just another indictment.

Great song reference; very apropos (I like the Disturbed cover of that song also). Dark times in Dawg sports. And, yes, combining the large state schools into one is the answer but it will never happen. And honestly don't think I could stomach it. I'm lifer Maroon & White; there can never be another.
And trying to pump more money into football, no matter the plan to accomplish it, doesn't guarantee success. A&M says hi.
Wish I could see a path forward for us in college sports; the death bell is growing louder by the day.

Why is it that there are so many things about Starkville and our Athletic department that so many of us simple folk can?t grasp except you and seemingly 34.
Y?all just have all of this all figured out apparently. What we are and aren?t capable of as a university.
Why don?t we just pack it all up now and save the money before the settlement kicks in?
